Similar to your illustration, I try the situation when I change the foreground and background of a note attached to a Bible verse and I did not encounter any problem just like you. Please see screenshot below:
However, when I try the same thing with a general note that is not attached to a Bible verse, I encounter a problem. Please see screenshot below:
Can you please try the second situation and let me know whether you encounter same problem?
If you encounter same problem, then Faithlife will have something to do to fix this bug.

I tried it the second time and it works. I honestly cannot explain it, but the problem seem to have vanish on all my notes without Bible verses reference.[:O][:)][:D]
