Searching for a Bible Reference within a Collection

How do I search for Bible references within a Collection? For example, I have Comfort's Texts of the Earliest NT Greek MSS (wonderful thing to have in e-form), and say I want to look up where all 70 of those mss have John 1:1, so I can see all the early papyri readings in one fell swoop.

It's easy. Open Search. Select Basic. Then select your collection in the drop down list where my arrow points to below. Type John 1:1 in the search box and go.

Unfortunately, for this resource it isn't quite so easy. The search leads you into the index where you can see the canonical listing of the mss, but clicking on these just brings you to the beginning of the mss, not to the position in the mss where the verse is.

The individual chapters and verses are not tagged in this resource.

This also highlights another problem with this resource--at the beginning of each ms, there is a listing of the passages found in the ms. You can click these, but instead of taking you to that place in the ms, they open your preferred Bible.

This text(s) need to be treated as a bible as they are type:Bible. So you do not search for bible references, you enter them into the text box e.g. Open TENTGM. If it defaults to showing page numbers clear the entry, type Jn 1.1 and select one of the two sources that appear (they are not differentiated so you have to remember its position). Not all verses and chapters are present so take note of the indirect way it tells you this eg. Acts 4:4, Lk 4:4.

If you perform a Basic search of TENTGM you will only find the index/TOC, which is similar to searching the NET bible as you find results in its Notes! If you perform a Bible search you will get zero results, just like any other bible.

That makes sense, but it does make it difficult to use as I was attempting to. When I see an index like the following, I assume that clicking the link
would take you to the ms being referenced. But assumptions can get you in trouble. Thanks for your clarification.

I did the search; the TEGNT. john 1

Basic search, below is my results. you can see what manuscript has what passage in it. HINT: if you click "send hyperlinks here" after you click one of the references, you'll only get "TEGNT" references to come up...not your preferred bible...

Well...that's not how it looks on mine. The papyri are not in order, and are not hyperlinked. And I did set Send Hyperlinks Here, as you suggested.

Open TENTGM and treat it like a bible except that there are multiple books for a passage:-

A Basic Search for Jn 1.2 will tell you where they are found but this method gets you direct to the passage in the relevant mss (although you have to re-enter the passage after each "Go to").

You'll notice that I just searched "John1" and not "John 1:1"

When I search your EXACT search...I get the same thing.

Since it lists the exact passage as a result, I thought it would be good to broaden it up for a more well rounded look.
