Mistake in the Faith Life Study Bible Notes

In the note on Genesis 38:8

38:8 perform the duty of a brother-in-law to With the death of Er, his brother, Onan, became responsible for providing children to Onan’s wife. This custom is known as levirate marriage and is described in Deut 25

i think its should say Er's wife, not Onan's wife

I agree - good catch

Typically these are best flagged using the "report typo" option - available in the desktop app

You right-click on the word, then scroll down the left-hand side of the menu until you get the "report typo" option

Clicking that results in a popup where you can enter the correct wording

I have submitted this correction - but just wanted to advise for future use

I use this feature a lot. For a dummy, I have this amazing ability to find typos. I actually found a typo the other day in a Greek grammar textbook. A declension paradigm was wrong in a table.

I wonder, though, if there's a way to see the typos one has reported through the years? Is there a way to look, historically, at all the typos a particular user has reported? I'd be interested to know how many I've reported over a period of time.

I've been "mulling this one over" for a bit...whether or not it is an error...but in reality, if Onan had provided Er's wife with offspring, the first one would be considered Er's (as if he were still alive) to carry on the family name and THEN she would become Onan's wife (if he chose her).

Also, while you can use the report typo feature, I don't see that data unless I remember to specifically ask for it.
