can the slides made from the sermon editor be more editable?

This is a note from my pastor:

I’m not sure if it was just my copy of what you sent, but I couldn’t make any changes to the slides. They seemed like they were pictures. Can you change your copy of the PowerPoint slides? Can you change the text in Logos? Also, did you come up with what the slides said, or did Logos, or a combination? This sounds like a great idea—especially for beginner preachers/teachers, or those with very little preparation time. As for me, I am constantly changing and refining my slides until I teach, so I know this wouldn’t work for me. But I applaud Logos for doing this. Thanks for sending it to me.

I know our pastor is very particular about his PowerPoint presentations but I think there could be more options available in the sermon editor tool. For example being able to change fonts and change backgrounds more easily. Also it would be nice if the slides were editable in the PowerPoint program. I hope logos will consider these options.

As of right now, you cannot change them. They are jpegs.

But in another thread Phil said they plan on making some changes to allow the kind of stuff you are asking about.

They are not.. They import as jpeg files into Powerpoint. I dont know that they can be made to export as a .pptx file - that's a whole other set of worms, and probably would not be a cost-effective process for Logos to develop, nor would the demand be that great (at least I would not think, esp when it is so easy to simply edit the slides BEFORE they are exported).

On a similar, yet unrelated note. I purchased the Romans High Definition PowerPoint slides ( https://www.logos.com/product/46972/high-definition-commentary-romans-slide-pack ) thinking that they would actually be .PPTX, and thus editable, files. I discovered, after I purchased them, that they are also merely JPEG images (thus not editable) that are placed on top of a PowerPoint slide. Even they are not editable, and that product is presented as being a true PowerPoint slide show, although it is not. Don't know why I am mentioning that here; it just came to mind. LOL Really doesn't have anything to do with your post other than the fact that these slides, too, are non-editable JPEGs that are to be placed over a blank PP slide.

Greetings.

I happened upon this post because I was looking to see if there were some instructions on editing the PPT slides. I have been an avid PPT user for years and created many presentations. When I tried to use the sermon editor I felt a little hamstrung. Maybe if I play with it some I will find my groove, because this is a brilliant tool which promises a lot of time savings.

I know the Faithlife team is extremely creative and resourceful, so I am expecting that there will be lots of changes and improvements in years to come. Part of my reason of writing this is to let them know that there are users out there who would like to see more flexibility. Or maybe somebody will send me a tip for editing the material before exporting it.

Many heartfelt thanks to the Logos team for all the great new tools you have developed, many of which seemed remote if not impossible just a decade ago.

Thanks for the feedback. We're working on adding support for exporting to PowerPoint with editable text. (This may mean losing some visual formatting from our slide renderer, which works differently than PowerPoints, but this should be easy enough to deal with. We do use the same slide renderer in Proclaim, though, where the slides can be edited.)
