Website Update: Purchasing Logos 7 on the Website (Logos Now members)

We've been listening to customer feedback on the forums, phone calls, and emails. This feedback has been invaluable to us as we evaluate how we're communicating and selling Logos 7 on the website, specifically on the product pages where you check out. Today, we will be rolling out different behavior on Logos 7 product pages for Logos Now members.

Logos Now members will now have a choice to select “Library only” on the product page. If Logos Now members choose this option, only the Logos 7 Library will be added to their cart (and not the Feature Set). If Logos Now members do not select this option, both the Feature Set AND the Library will be added to cart. When a Logos Now member checks out with a Logos 7 Feature Set in their cart, they will have purchased permanent ownership of the Logos 7 Feature Set. You can see this new behavior on any of our Logos 7 product pages, for example: Logos 7 Platinum.

If you are not a Logos Now member, you will be offered a Library and Feature Set for ownership.

That's definitely a big improvement in clarity.

It's great that the grey/blue box changes according to the selection (and is super-clear), and the "Feature Set" comparison disappears, too. It's a shame it couldn't be like this at the beginning, but well done everyone for getting the changes spot on.

I notice that it defaults to "I'd like to purchase and own the full feature set," even when you are a Logos Now member.

Since the original intent was not to offer the feature set if the customer was a LN member, and many LN members seemed to prefer renting instead of owning the features, would it make more sense to default it to the more common "I'd prefer to purchase only the ... library" option?

That way, you wouldn't inadvertently be selling it to someone who already had access to the features via their LN subscription.

Wasn't there an additional discount if you purchased a feature set along with a library? (Or did that promotion only apply to your first L7 purchase?)

Right now, the new product page price to include the feature set appears to be identical to the FFS product price, when purchased on its own.

Right now, the new product page price to include the feature set appears to be identical to the FFS product price, when purchased on its own.

Feature Sets are discounted by 25% when bought with a library. However, Logos Now users get that discount even when buying separately.

One minor omission to the website update: It looks like the (?) hover point is now missing from the left of "Dynamic Sale Price" text, and you can't currently view the price breakdown popover.

This functionality had been present on the base package pages before the website update.

Our original intent was to not force ownership of the Full Feature Set if you were a Logos Now membership. That resulted in us making the choice for Logos Now customers to not offer the Feature Set to them.

Since we now offer the choice (and make it very clear), we can fulfill our original intent in a much better way, putting the option to own or not own the Feature Set in the hands of the customer.

I think it's too early to determine if LN members prefer renting or owning the features. We've heard [passionate] arguments from both sides. We will continue to monitor this though, and make adjustments if there is a clear pattern that indicates we should switch the default.
