I came across this little paragraph today...
It is not a matter of a surface-level ‘imitation’, with people simply attempting to copy Jesus and so make themselves better people. It is a matter of the ‘mind of the Messiah’ which they already possess (see below), and of them allowing this shared and transformed ‘mind’ to work out into actual patterns of thought and then behaviour (as in 2:1–4).254 The outward signs of this can be seen in the various places where Paul seems to be echoing actual sayings of Jesus.255
