This update just downloaded when I opened up Logos 4 tonight.
on the beta forum this includes RC1. I do not show the RC1. Should this be showing?
Just got it on the beta channel! I suspect it's RC1, which won't have that designation, just 4.0b, in case nothing serious is found and it "goes gold"....
Hooray!!
They never show the "RC1" notation in the version number in the About box, because this could be it, the golden version. They wouldn't want to have to release another one just to remove the "RC1." So they keep track of which one was RC1 (or RC2 or whatever) based on the version number.
Here are the release notes: http://wiki.logos.com/4.0b_Release_Candidate_1
So this is just for beta, not us regular windows folks?
It's just a Release Candidate. It hasn't "gone gold" yet. But that should be a matter of days now, not weeks. If no serious bugs are found in this RC in the next day or two, they will pronounce it the final release of 4.0b and everyone will be able to upgrade to it. And then us beta guinea pigs will be able to dive in to 4.0c soon thereafter, I suspect...
Hi Jerry,
It potentially could be for non beta users, but not yet. If no serious bugs are found, Logos will anounce 4.0b and if the bug thing was true, then it would be 'safe'.
What Rosie said

Clinton
When Logos judges it gold, they will release it through the regular update channel. So if you really want to be safe, then just wait. On the other hand, if you are tired of waiting and are willing to endure a small amount of risk, then download the release candidate.
One of the "bug fixes" says: Index merging has been removed; merging indexes (from Search Results, or running the “merge index” command) will rebuild the full index from scratch in the background. Index merging will return in 4.0c.
What does that mean? Does it mean that new updates between 4.0b - 4.0c will not automatically reindex and that we'll have to manually perform that function? A little confused....

This means that the index files will be removed and a new index will be built, rather than the supplemental index being merged into the main index.
Everything will still index automatically as before, but when you tell it to (or it automatically tries to) merge your main index and supplemental index it will actually re-index everything.
Looks like Melissa beat me to it.
