Was that Fair?

Okay, last year I had a request for input on a book that I could purchase. Everything was fine a couple of days ago when someone revived it. I thought "Great! Maybe another input for my question". Admittedly, that thread turned into a debacle.

I can not be held accountable for others actions.

Why was the whole thread deleted? Why not just certain posts and keep the original question alive?

Do all requests for book suggestions get deleted? No. Why mine?

It appears their is a hierarchy forming here which is fine, but when they become so strong that they can influence Logos on a whim I think it is harmful.

So with no reason or email sent to me to explain why my request was considered an obvious heresy I find the forums less and less attractive.

I have no clue what you are talking about. Sounds odd that a thread would be deleted because of a book suggestion (all else being equal). What was the book?

I, too, have no idea what you are referring to. In the past couple of months Logos has set up some guidelines for the use of this forum and for behavior while using it. Don't know but perhaps they observed something in violation of those guidelines or someone reported what they felt was inappropriate behavior.

Here are the guidelines. Perhaps you being familiar with what was going on could deduce if someone invoked the rules and deleteted the thread.

Interesting, I was reading that thread with some interest on how the discussion over what was appropriate on the forum was turning out. I saw nothing that warranted deleting IMHO (to be fair I might have missed something in the past couple of hours). If Logos is going to start deleting threads that spin off into biblical/theological debates then that signals a change in practice on their end. The interesting thing is that the thread appeared to be coming back to answering your question about which resources would espouse the viewpoint you wanted to read about.

I would be interested to hear why the "Timeline
for Daniel 9:24-27 (non futurist view)" disappeared.

I though the thread had brought itself back on topic before it was deleted. Perhaps the delete process had begun before the thread righted itself.

I would suggest reposting the original request in a new thread. (I still recommend the TOTC Daniel).

I had asked a question last year, to my best of memory the entire post had only one or two lines. It/they were something like: "Hi, does anyone know of a book that looks at Daniel in a non-Futurist view? Thanks."

All was fine and not many people posted. About three days ago someone posted and I thought "Great! someone has more suggestions". Well, it was either people telling me that I did not need this type of resource and one who said that I was calling God a liar with some scriptures. I responded to him that I did not feel as if I was calling God a liar (I know... I should have left it alone but that really hits me in the gut) and after a scripture told him I would not debate here. He put in a rebuttal post that I did not entertain but others called him on it.

Someone said it was time to stop and move along/ Long story short, yes, I agree some posts needed deleted but the whole thread?

I got a couple of good recommendations and as I said it was a old thread to begin with. Anyhow, I just wanted to explain and not cause any more trouble.

Richard, your thread was hijacked at the end. While I am surprised that Logos pulled the entire thread, the other poster was clearly over the line in his comments that those who disagreed with his view point on the subject were calling Jesus a liar, and that protocol and manners ranked above the truth on this forum. I don't speak for Logos, but that is the type of vitriol that I don't want to see on this board.

I was trying to figure out how to put the poster with the diatribe and name calling on ignore like I could in the newsgroups. It seems that can't be done on the forums (another reason i prefer newsgroups). I wish logos had just banned him for violating the terms of the forum use instead of removing the whole thread.

I also am surprised the entire thread was pulled. I did think some posts pointed to Logos resources and was generally trying to move forward with finding resources from a particular position. But as we all know and continue to learn, forum communication is not the same as regular face to face communication and there is a need for all of us to continue to sharpen our abilities to speak the truth in love or just speak in love when we dont see eye to eye. Logos 4 is wonderful in helping us see and understand different viewpoints. I wish in the future only posts (not threads) that violate (willfully or accidentally) would be be deleted.

I think that Logos is still finding their way in implementing their policy, which is understandable given the great NO POLICY/POLICY debate that has gone on within their management structure. BTW, Locking would also be appropriate for a thread that has gone too far, but doesn't need to be deleted.

I agree that Logos is treading in new territories with Logos 4 ushering in a web board instead of news groups. I am also sure that the moderator who did pull the thread thought he/she was acting in the best behalf of Logos and I can not blame them for that.

The OP was really, really old and I did get the answers I was looking for. No harm, no foul... One thing that I did learn from this and should have learned it early on is that when I respond or write a new thread, I'll take the time for prayer that I will not "speak out" in a way that is offensive and/or a cool down time instead of going with my first emotion.
