4.0b RC 1

I got a few questions:
- if I download 4.0b RC1 would I also have to download all of my resources again and index for 10+hours?
- is it "in place upgrade" meaning that I can install it "over" 4.0a, or do I first have to uninstall 4.0a?
- I am assuming that all of my settings are retained (because they are synced with the servers.
- what happens if I run 4.0a on one computer and 4.0b on another - any possible conflicts?
in the future, more detailed installation instructions would be helpful.

yes, in place upgrade
intention is that settings are retained
two version have been tried; there may have been syncing issues but that's it

I guess I was confused by the NATURE of this release. Since it was announced in the regular L4 forum and the regular update was much anticipated AND "b" follows logically after "a" I mistakenly assumed that 4.0b RC1 is not a beta but a normal release.
Please make things clearER the next go around

Can be confusing, Vladimir.
In the development world, "RC" is understood as Release Candidate.

Okay, I downloaded 4.0b Release Candidate 2 (v4.02.3.7337) per Melissa's post: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/13124.aspx And even though I have 5 hours of indexing to go, I decided to test the one thing I was interested in - i.e., did it solve the problem of my PC crashing everytime I did a lemma morphological search. Based on doing one search in BHS and a couple in NA27, it appears that this stable pre-release revision has indeed solved the problem. Hip-hip-hurray!!! [:)]
