Hi all,
Is there a way to see a list of other resources in one's library which refer to the passage one is reading? I'm not talking about passage of scripture, but any passage. For instance say I am reading the first paragraph of Calvin's Institutes, and I want to see how later writers have interacted with this passage. Is there a quick way to see everyone who has interacted with this paragraph?
I imagine that Logos' extensive cross-linking system would make this a possibility. It would be ideal to be able to choose whether you're finding passages which reference this: paragraph / section / chapter / whole work or article. You could even have it return results like this: 1. Resources in your library, 2. Resources in Logos that you don't own (which might lead you to purchase them)
A parallel in legal research:
In legal research, case databases have an amazing feature. When you look up a case, it lists all the cases (A) which this case refers to, and (B) which refer to this case. As you can see, all the cases in group A predate the court case in question. All the cases in group B must of course have happened after the case in question.
The great advantage of this for legal research is: by looking at the cases in group B, one can see how legal precedents have changed / accepted / rejected the principles over time.
In theological / biblical studies, very often one is reading an older work (whether commentary or journal article etc). I don't want to rely on or cite Something which later works have shown to be lacking.
