In academic standards there are three common ways to give references:
- footnote
- endnote
- inline reference
Unfortunately Logos has invented a fourth
I can reproduce this in the New Testament Use Of The Old Testament when copying into MS Word:

Fortunately this new innovation has not made it into the page view:
The problem is that these are not footnotes - anywhere. And they do not show as footnotes in page mode. And no academic style has you use both an inline reference and a footnote.

I respectfully request that this innovation be squashed until required by some academic style book.
