"Call for your price" a deterrent

Just wanted to offer feedback in relation to the Black Friday sale. Not everyone is able to call Faithlife. So when I go to the sales page and instead of seeing prices, I see "call for your price," all it means is that I will let this sale pass by not knowing whether it might have had a deal I would have gone for or not. I am sure I am not the only one in that boat considering all the places where Faithlife customers live.

FL has addressed this issue. You can now get the prices via email (and likely place an order via email or chat, to get products at the special price).

Same here - whilst I think phone-based sales are biased against us overseas people, I can understand the reasons that have been put forth for why FL would have them. BUT to offer an email alternative and then find the email basically says to phone to get details is bad form in my opinion

This has been addressed with our sale team, and they were informed to provide all information necessary via email so that people do not have to call in. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Yeah for me it is a very ineffective tool. It makes whatever sale is behind that advertisement completely irrelevant. I won't be calling and if I get called, I will just be annoyed. Why not just let me see the price and make a decision?!

While I am thankful for the change and think it is a step in the right direction, from a customer perspective it is still annoying. I can't think of a single other company I do business with that advertises a sale but requires you to contact them before they will tell you what the sale is. I understand why they choose to do it, but it is not something I enjoy.

Some computer companies do it (Dell/HP) and Musicians Friend/Guitar Center do it all of the time, especially on their super high end equipment.

My comment specifically had to do with companies that I do business with, of which Faithlife is the only one with such a practice. Having said that, I can imagine that with computers and high-end instruments the specific customization and configuration might at times impact the price, and so even during sales it would make sense that one would need to have some direct communication with the company. That is not a parallel situation to Faithlife placing a commentary set on sale but requiring customers to contact them to find out the price. As I said, I understand why they choose to do it, but it is not something I enjoy. Is it a big deal? No. Faithlife has a right to offer sales in whatever fashion they choose, and customers have a right to participate or refrain. I actually did send them an email several days ago. I did not wind up purchasing anything, but that had more to do with my lack of interest in what was being offered.

I suspect many of us do not trust sales tactics and want to be in control of the purchasing process. In other words, I want to be able to choose if I want to call, or email, or if I want to purchase directly online. So, Black Friday Sale, you may as well not have been offered at all, as far as I am concerned. I will not be emailing nor calling. And in the future, if this happens again, the outcome will also be the same.

I also agree, I am near Russia and the time is 14 hours ahead of PST. And calling into Logos can be done but the cost is high and staying up to do that is also not easy. All this to say the sale is not helpful.

I don't like this method either. But I decided to email and in respond to my email I was told what resources were in the mystery deals and then he said "Give me a call and I can unlock some amazing discounts for you!" I was shocked. I thought what a waste of time. I wasn't told any prices.

We are told that salaries make up a lot of the expenses for Faithlife, in order to have people ready to answer questions on the phone. I understand that. What I don't understand is Faithlife's encouragement for us to call or email for such things as "mystery deals" which is wasting their time instead of answering more difficult and relevant questions about the software. Just put the prices on the website!

The competition already emailed me and has the sale prices for this Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales up on their website, and if I call I get an additional 30% off -- Now, THAT is what I call a true sale and incentive that makes it worth my time calling! I agree. It would be quicker and easier to just post the sales on the website than having to email, wait for a reply, email back and wait for an order to be processed.

Wordsearch is the name. And no, unfortunately, from experience, FL "special sale" prices are already set and if you ask for a better price you are given the usual, "Sorry, that's the best we can do." So calling doesn't get you additional discounts. I use the competition for resources that FL either doesn't have or are too pricey in Logos format (e.g. POSB and Rod Mattoon's Treasures from the Scriptures). They also have a variety of sermon outlines not available in Logos. It's always useful to have a second or even a third Bible software for studying the Bible. May not be as convenient at times, but it saves you money. Most of my investment is in Logos, though.

While it's not 30%, I guess you can save extra by calling in [;)]

The curious thing is that 10 products originally had "Call for price" but the extra "call in" discount is now only applied to 3 of them. Why would we have had to call for the price, if 7 of them turned out to be no different than what the web site offered?
