Logos 7 will be supported and updated forever.....

I love how marketing is so quick about making promises that we know will not be true.... I got this email earlier:

Their bolded words need an asterisk or FL planing on ensuring 7 will always receive updates even when Logos 12 has been released. I do not expect FL will eternally support 7 but that is the impression I get when I read this email literally...

This ties into something I have been thinking for a while.

I've noticed a very strange tone on these forums. Not your post, Dan. But others. Very whiny, lots of complaint, lots of sense of entitlement. It's something I've never experienced among a Christian forum, even of other Bible software companies.

I have started to wonder whether it is in part created by Faithlife's lofty marketing rhetoric. The claims made for Logos are expressed in the highest superlatives. Everything is the 'best ever', everything has 'never been easier'. One would almost think that Logos will write your sermons for you.

If you over-promise and under-deliver you set yourself up for complaints. Personally I think the software itself is good enough to not need such over-hyped marketing. In fact as I investigated Logos, the marketing turned me off it. It was using the software that convinced me to invest.

In my view Logos could afford to tone down the marketing rhetoric and stop making such glowing promises. Just say what it does. The marketing team should consider a general ban on superlatives especially the word 'ever'

Maybe they decided not to screw us over anymore. Maybe L7 is the last perfect version theyll ever support and just renew and revamp without giving it another name... I guess we'll have to wait and see 😜😁👍🤘✌️️😂😬

I'm not seeing it, Andrew. It bothered me before, the over-the-top Logos marketing. Not so much anymore. In fact, I've noticed the hype (with some exceptions, sure) has been toned down. I'm also not sure about an increase in complaints. Don't quote me, but the only thing I've noticed is that a relatively small number of people make about 90% of the complaints. Or so it seems!

Is your experience that you 'instantly' make new discoveries with just a click? My experience is that I click, and then wait a few seconds, and then have to read and think pretty damn hard and occasionally I make a new discovery.

The roadblocks are mainly in my own heart and brain... And the speed of light...

"you don't have to be frustrated any more?" - well, I think this sort of thing is the reason that when people do get frustrated (and studying the Bible is occasionally and unavoidably frustrating), they take it out on Logos. Because we were promised that there would be no more frustration!

If it has gotten better, then that's good and well done FaithLife! But I think the hype machine is still pretty active.

That's a good example of what I don't see so much of anymore. Sure, it happens. And your example is the worst I've seen in awhile.
