Could someone please tell me what the DOB format is for the academic application.
And then, you know, actually put the format on the application, because this is a ridiculous hassle and I can't be the only one having this problem.
That depends on what application you are completing. I suggest you ask the person or institution requiring you to do the application.

When I select that field in the application I am presented with a drop-down for month-day-year. I'm thinking there should not be formatting issues. Are you seeing something different?
I'm not seeing that drop-down. Might be something on my end? When I type it in in the mm/dd/yyyy format and submit it doesn't accept it. It just does the red 'is required' thing, as if it wasn't there.
Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing? (Use the paper clip icon to attach the image.) Also, include the link to the page.
