I cannot get the Kindle Cloud reader to open in the left window.
"We're sorry. Kindle Cloud Reader is not currently available on this browser. You can read on your phone or tablet by downloading a free Kindle app now."
I have all the browsers listed on my laptop, but none of them show up in the HeiDoc window.
Any help?Run one of the two registry files contained in this archive:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!As_fPVpP5WzhgY8VBLDruegALTSIYg
If you have IE 10, then run IE10.reg. If you have IE11, then run IE11.reg,
It should have been done automatically by the downloader... Not sure why it didn't work for you...

copying, "attempting" to paste into online Word. Could be the books are too large, too many charts/graphics, but it hasn't worked yet.
I concur. This is the challenge I am having. That is why I tried the long way around of saving in Word2016 then trying to open in WordOnline.

Apparently Microsoft has known about this issue since 2009, and not acted on it yet :-(

I will assume "copy all" is for whats in #2 only- and not the whole book, correct?

Yes, just panel #2 for now.
I'm still not giving up on auto browsing yet... Next week, next try...

I adjusted your post count and Graham is correct with the cause.
Mike,
Would it be possible to update my post count as well. I updated my e-mail some months back.

I second this thank you! I've already moved several books to Logos and love being able to search and link to them!David Thomas said:Thank you for your hard work and generosity in sharing this utility with the Forum!

I appreciate your efforts but I can't get the hang of this- every book so far I have just deleted can't get them right.

Please wait for the auto scroll function. It will make things much easier. It will hopefully be complete within a week.

Don't get me wrong- its a good app- but for what I do- its not working. I'll keep trying- so keep updating it.

I've created a small tool that can convert Kindle to HTML without removing (or even touching) the DRM. Actually this thread here got me first thinking about the idea.
https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/amazon-global/81-amazon-kindle-ebook-downloader
Since I'm not a lawyer either, I can't comment on the legality either, however for countries where removing DRM is clearly illegal, my tool might be a good option.
I decided to give the app another try on my favorite book by Leon Morris(The Apostolic Preaching of the Cross):
I noticed that in copy all- it would miss pages- had to use footnote numbers to track down missing data.
I still have work to do- re-linking all the foot notes in the docx file- but was surprised that it only took 6 hours for me to compile the book.
Looks good in Logos.

Can I get a quick understanding of the legality of converting Kindle books to Logos? I tried looking for information regarding this. I am sure it has already come up but I can't find the information.
Thanks

You aren't going to get a satisfactory answer. No one can point to something authoritative and say, "it's settled, here's the answer." It certainly breaks Kindle's rules. There are other cases one can point to, but they aren't satisfactorily equivalent. You can, for example, make a personal copy of a compact disc as a backup. This isn't that.

This article you referenced is the reverse of what he's trying to do

Has a court said there is a legal difference in making a personal copy of a cd and an electronic book? Is that a fact that this isn't that?

I don’t think so, and you have worn me down to something closer to your view... If you read my post again you will see that I have said “it isn’t clear.” As to making a copy of a CD vs. converting a Kindle book into a different format... those aren’t the “same thing.” The closest eqivel would be copying the kindle book, in its original format, to a thumb drive. Again, I have come to the point where I believe it is certainly unclear. Copying a CD, however, is clear.

Does the "Copy All" button work or am I missing a step?

Kindle has a copy limit that varies by publisher. Typical is 10%.
It violates the amazon kindle policy to copy whole kindle books.

Jan, did you ever get the auto-scroll feature working? This would help so much.
Never to the level that I had wanted to.
But re-examining this application is on my to-do list for this year. Maybe I find the solution now after such a long break (much longer than expected / planned).

I have found the only way to get definite answers- contact the publisher- I have on approximately 400 titles- you may pay a fee ranging from $4-10 dollars, and I have actually been furnished PDF, RTF or Docx files in 30% of the cases, you have to ask.
I do have a program to convert Kindle to Word by copy / paste- but have found its just easier to take a few extra steps. Just so you know some will just say "NON!!" but that's life.

What do you ask them when you contact them? Specifically if they offer a PDF/DOCX version of the book?
Any insight into which publishers are more likely to offer this vs. ones that aren’t in your experience?

Yes just ask them if they offer a downloadable version or if they can send it.
This is a process basically, usually when you contact them it will depend on the book, different books, different people. They will sometimes know immediately, about 30% of the time, or they will start a process by which you get permission, and pay. However it goes make sure "you" remain faithful to the agreement, this is a legal and binding transaction. I have gotten permission from Baker, AMG, and numerous less known publishers. To be honest it's probably going to depend on the book and what's happening between publisher and author- they will not jeopardize that relationship.
Ask Logos to see if someone there has a contact with a particular publisher for books they are not involved with.

I got the program to work. thanks so much.
As i understand it, I have to copy one chapter at a time?
Am I missing something?

Nope. As I understand it, that's the way it works. For me, it doesn't just automatically do one chapter at a time. It does about 7-10 pages at a time. It tends to overlap and repeat content, which you then have to go back and edit. The final product required hours of editing, and I still couldn't get it right. I'm hoping for the automatic version.

I have been using program again and found highlighting and copying 4-5 paragraphs at a time works best do very little if any editing- except to format to my liking.

Thank you so much for this! I have a few books that I have wanted to import into my LOGOS but had been unable to get around the DRM, have tried a few ways, but no joy. This worked like a dream. Have shared your page as well as this tread with others who may be able/willing to work with you get get the Mac version for those who have requested it. May God richly Bless you. Thank you again
