January 2017 Logos Now Preview Resources...

These looked to have dropped into my library at this point in time, though the member's webpage is yet to be updated:
From what I can tell it is the following Bloomsbury Libraries
https://www.logos.com/product/44912/bloomsbury-academic-religious-studies-collection
https://www.logos.com/product/42610/bloomsbury-academic-greek-tragedy-bundle
Let the debate over the value of these and whether we should be able to opt out of the download continue....

The bundle dump is starting to get tiring.
I don't want to opt out; I want better books. High-quality preview resources were one of the main reasons I re-upped my Logos Now subscription. But I haven't even looked at any of them in several months as they're totally outside of my areas of interest.
FaithLife, please bring back the carefully curated selection of preview resources appealing to a wide range of interests. The bundle dump has been a big disappointment and is yet another sign of your ongoing slump in quality and attention to detail.
ETA: But thanks, Doc, for the links.

Agree with your comments Sean. I'd be surprised if these Bloomsbury titles are of interest to the average Logos Now subscriber. For two of us at least they have no interest, particularly the Greek Tragedies set. The comparative religion might be interesting to a slightly wider audience.

Well I'm the one on the other Side I like hem...but I also would prefer single Books instead of Bundles

Is Logos closed tomorrow? Is that why they released the January resources?

Beyond tiring. It's like they're no longer putting any thought into it. I'm thankful for the ability to hide them.

They're probably closed most Sundays [;)]

Didn't they used to include a mobile ed course in the preview? What happened to that?

Likely tomorrow AND Monday. Many organizations take the day after the holiday off when the holiday is on the weekend.

These also seem to be the Verbum Now preview resources.
I'm fine with them. When you take a few sets of preview resources over different months and look at them together, you do get a real variety.

Since the holiday is on a Sunday, they would probably only take Monday off (unless 31 December is a holiday as well over there).
Happy new year! 1 minute left over here...

They do but it is not changed regularly, there has never to my knowledge been a commitment to how often it will change, see the Logos Now member page for details of currently made available course.

I am mystified and dismayed that such silly useless books are part of the download.
Greek Tragedy?????

....Sean is spot on. Logos is pandering to an unusual subset of people imho.

That subset may well think the same of your subset. [:P]

We have both Monday and Tuesday off (just like we did for Christmas). I don't get the reasoning for the Tuesday off but I'm not complaining [:)]

Let's say I wanted to purchase a permanent license to either of these bundles. Is there a discount? How does it work?

There will be a discount, come February, unless someone at FL forgets, in which case it will happen shortly after someone complains on the forums.

OK. How does it work? Will I get an e-mail with a code? Or something else?

We've never had Christmas or New Year's Eve as a public holiday (though more than a few business places give their staff the day off then).

I agree..... I would prefer 2 preview resources. It's a hassle with these sets

LOL- useless material for the average well adjusted person.

What I totally enjoy are the emails I receive informing me I can get e.g. 50% or 70% off but when I get to the product price, I might as well take a mortgage out on my house.
Why not material such as "the annotated Bible" or the "numerical Bible" or individual books by, let's say MacArthur at a reduuuuced price? Or should I not even post such a thing?

If Logos could deliver the perfect hand-picked volume specifically for me then I guess I'd be ok getting a single volume. Failing that, I'd much rather get large collections to rummage through and find my own stuff.
I can appreciate the idea of making the preview resources "opt-out" or, say, providing a link to add them as temporary resources rather than having them automatically download, but for my current use, I really like the approach that they take. It's rare that I don't find something worthwhile.

Very good. Point taken James.

I seem to have lost access to the Bloomsbury resources, and got another commentary series - was this change caused by this thread, or was the first bundle shared by accident? I was planning to read a couple of volumes...

Same here. Perhaps it was an error. The official page has the current set listed on it and not the Bloomsbury one:

Ditto. The preview resources timeline now lists the Moffatt New Testament Commentary Series for January.
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Moffatt is really dated. Seems a strange pick for previewing. Maybe FL is having trouble getting permission for these previews?

The official page did have the Bloomsbury titles listed, so if if was shared by accident it was a big accident as they did the webpage wrong too.
This is just another example of FL's poor communication with customers. They are free to change preview resources, and dont' even have to give us a reason, but when they are going to be making changes to our libraries they should have the decency to communicate that change. They are creating distrust when they act in this manner, if they can remove resources in this situation without telling us what will they do in the future without telling us. This company really needs to hire someone that understands communications and customer relationship management because the current leadership has no idea.

Sorry. The Bloomsbury Academic resources are being retired for contractual reasons. Unfortunately, those of us responsible for choosing the preview resources didn't become aware of this until after we had added them, so we've had to substitute other resources for January.

This is even worse than what you sent originally. Please stop phoning it in and provide decent preview resources like you used to. I reupped to Logos Now & chose it over buy a Feature Set for Logos 7 primarily because of the good-quality previews you were providing, but the last few months the selection, like a lot of other things, has really taken a dive in quality.

I know this thread is a week old and the Bloomsbury thing has been explained and may be permanently in the past (especially regarding LN), but I want to cast a dissenting voice, one in favor of the usefulness of material on the classics. After all, these writings formed a large part of the literary environment that gave birth to the New Testament.
I completely understand why someone wouldn't be interested in these things or wouldn't want them in their library. But it's not a matter of their importance, but a matter of focus of study, IMO.
I am also aware that I'm in a slim minority regarding willingness to study such things; this explains why so many of the CP collections of classics don't get put into production. And it may also explain to posterity why we'll never see such collections pop up in LN as our monthly preview.
I also am not trying to make a case for these things for FL or for anyone else's library. But perhaps my words will help FL understand that their efforts taken in that direction are valued and appreciated at least by some.

Or we may have them in dead tree format and have little motivation to go electronic ...
