Amazing problem WARNING

I am and have been, a raving fan of Logos since I first purchased Logos5 Bronze which I think was about $500 or so just a few short years ago. Of course my luck Logos 6 came out the next year and now Logos 7 is out. I had an auto update about three months ago which updated my one year bible ESV audio. Immediately the audio failed. I wrote in and was told they were aware of the problem and it would be fixed soon. So, here we are now in 2017 and my audio bible defaults to verse one of any chapter over and over again and it will not advance visiually anymore with the reading plan.
I wrote AGAIN and received the response that my Logos is not supported any longer! I was told I could upgrade! So just about four years after I paid $500 for this program I cannot get support for a glitch that was created by an auto upgrade and now have to BUY another version to help with this? Needless to say, I am not impressed nor will I spend another nickel with. This company. Either this gets resolved appropriately or I will post this in every single forum I can find included letting my church which sponsored this company when I purchased, know about this. I plan on ensuring this bit of info is in as many people's hands as possible.
At this point I would only say BUYER BEWARE this is not the way to treat people that spend hundreds of dollars on software!
oh and my email default was changed without my permission to another one of my emails. HEY LOGOS WHAT GIVES?

Jordan, all software upgrades are free. In a few weeks, they release the free Logos 7. In the meantime, Logos 6 may fix your headache. No need to spend valuable cash. But it is confusing.

And admit it ... Logos does try to confuse, resulting in very frustrated customers.

Welcome [:D]
Please elaborate on ESV Audio difficulties to allow replication by other humans:
- Which reading plan ?
- What operating system and version ?
- Logos version ?

Your Logos Bible Software is a library.
First element, and the most obvious, are books. Your books are yours forever. You buy them once, and generally get a discount if a package includes a book you already own. Nifty.
The next element are datasets. Datasets are similar to books, in that you only buy them once. But you don't read them directly, they power things like the clause search (one dataset knows whenever "He" or "Him" means Jesus, for example, and lets you search like that; another knows who spoke what verses). You own the old ones and buy the new ones. These are the indices in your library. Some datasets, which live on the Logos server, are subscription only. But generally, you buy these once when a new Logos package comes out (it used to be part of a basic package, but now it is called the Full Feature Set), or rent them through Logos Now. Now will keep you up to date with new features as they come out, and is (at this point) a slightly better deal than buying, if you intend to stay up to date.
The last element is the software (Logos 5, 6, 7, etc). The software is the building the library is in, and all of the equipment that hunts things down. It is free (they let people who buy the new packages get it a little early as a perk, but everyone gets it in February). You can get the L6 update now (L7 is basically the same) and get slightly faster speed and some new features without spending any more money.
Does that all make sense?

Please don't as the forums are for other users who cannot solve the problem. Don't punish everyone else for your beef. However, you should email or phone Bob or Phil (Bob@faithlife.com or pgons@faithlife.com) Also, please upgrade to the current free version of the software and ensure your ESV is the current version to see if that resolves the problem.

Hey Jordan
few Years ago I bought SESB (LIbronix) Libary just to find out it's not supported anymore after I install it first time (!) and I bought it new in the Shop...At the End it's just Software Engine and they support the New for free (try to ask Microsoft if you could get this for free, cause you just have Office 2010) So get the L6 Engine and your Problem should be solved.

No United States Marine. You are the type of American I love to fix. An Internet wise guy. I love meeting folks like you. Especially ones that "claim" to be Christians. What a punk.
A marine? ha ha you definitely don't strike me as one. Real Marines don't whine the way you did. As far as claiming to be Christians goes, you're supposed to be one too and you definitely did not reflect that on your original post. So you are definitely not a Christian nor a real marine. Read the verse "vengeance is mine says the Lord..." if you felt cheated don't try to go about taking vengeance by going around gossiping, just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean everybody else does. Try to solve things the way a real man would. For a marine you're definitely not smart I guess you didn't specialize in computers and software; maybe you spent time peeling potatoes. Now go upgrade to the free core L6 engine, that should take care of your problems. And do me a favor, stop acting like a tough guy because all you do is come across like a little spoiled brat that gets angry when he doesn't get things his way. I guess they didn't teach you that with the Marines, did they?
Have a nice day and remember if you get upset just count to 10 😁

Hello Jordan and welcome to the boards.
I stink at giving help on the boards. I'm usually one who asks for help. [:)]
To be honest, 99.9 percent of the people here are incredibly helpful and kind. However, we do have a few people who are always looking to stir the pot and/or name call, which you are accurately assessing here. I'm surprised they haven't been banned from the boards. I'm sorry that your reception to the boards for your first post has brought out some with ugly behavior , but please don't let that deter you. You will quickly see that the best thing to do is ignore them. As I'm sure you know, they say the best way to treat a 2 year old with a temper tantrum is to ignore them. Some people just haven't grown up--in their attitude nor faith.
Excluding the few posts that are name calling, please note that others have jumped in to help. Also note that others are ignoring the ugly behaviorists, and that tends to be like "lumping coals on their heads."
Graham (He's AWESOME!) continued to jump back in and ask if your issue is resolved. I would continue to address him and let him help you see this through.
Again, welcome to the boards. Take the good and ignore the bad, but please know that this is not the norm. Click around the board and you will see it's true.
Hope your day is awesome!

I get your frustration. Sorry. Unfortunately (as Graham mentioned) you weren't told you could download the software engine for 6 and then 7 (soon) for free. The engine is the software that reads the books you bought. You can grab the upgrade at www.logos.com/downloads.
I do wish that Logos salesperson you talked to had pointed this out, it would resolve a huge part of your frustration.
Sorry, I can't speak for Logos on this one, but I do find it odd. I would wonder if you had updated your email in one place and that caused Logos to update it elsewhere.Jordan said:my email default was changed without my permission to another one of my emails.
Logos software is one portion of a large number of things that Faithlife does, so it is possible that an updated email on ... say Vyrso.com would cause the update to roll to other faithlife products. It's only a guess, but it's the only one I have at the minute.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

You guys wanna know what the funny thing is? The funny thing is that nobody called this guy a drama queen, he was just told to keep calm and not be one. He was even given the definition of a drama queen, but sure enough, he chose to be one because he let his arrogant pride muddle his thinking and he's the one who actually started the name calling and how he would do this and that. LOL typical keyboard warrior --- joke's on who now? When things are going fine people love Logos, but when things are not fine that's when people start showing their true colours and resort to playing the "I'm a marine" card...which is pretty lame and a coward card to play (A real marine would be ashamed of doing that - in fact, real marines don't do that, period!). But anyway...we'll leave him alone, just stop babying him or else you'll keep feeding his ego and he might actually think he's entitled to something just because he's a "marine."

Yes it is true that some responses have not been helpful but let's be honest here, the OP did not handle himself well either. OPs and responders need to both realize that these forums should serve as a civil community.

For someone who's been very grouchy and argumentative in the past you sure know how to judge people Michael. Read Matthew 7:1-4 for a change. No I don't "pastor" a church, but you do! 😉 So let's stop pretending to be perfect here, everyone knows about your short temper. See things for what they are! After all, the Bible says, Answer a fool according to his folly," and that's exactly what the OP got for coming here with an arrogant attitude disrupting the peace of the forums 🤔 Hmm, but you didn't see that, did you? And yes, I reported him too so he doesn't come threatening anyone with ruining anyone's reputation just because he didn't get his way. DALMichael Childs said:

Regardless of what one thinks of the tone of the OP, it's kind of sad to see the FL forums get overrun with these antics.

I have brought this thread to the attention of 2 Faithlife employees asking that someone from FL get the problem of the OP corrected as he did not report trying to contact Logos again. One of those employees has been known in the past to deal with the troll.

So the guy didn't even report trying to contact Logos? Wow Why would I threaten to go from forum to forum to give FL a bad reputation when I haven't really given them a chance to actually do all they can to fix my problem? I think we're focusing in the wrong thing here. Oh well...🙄...what else is new?

People who continue to judge the OP are way out of line. If you can not identify a person in a distressed state, let alone be to actually listen to what they are saying and hear the real issue and offer advice or assistance that is going to help resolve the issue or point the person to someone that can help with the issue, then please desist from saying anything - you are only fueling the fire - and do not judge that person - your silence will be much more helpful than your condemnation.
In llife I have found Chrstians to be the most judgemental, unhelpful and unconfidential people I have come across. They love to point the finger at others while quoting a scripture and then walk away with a puffed up chest admiring how spiritual they are while looking down on the person in need. These forums reflect that and this thread is one of the worst examples. A number of you need to take a look at your own hearts.

well, did he or did he NOT report?
We know he had multiple contacts (reports) with Faithlife prior to his forum post. We do not know if he has had contacts after his forum post. Therefore, I have contacted Faithlife directly myself in lieu of waiting to see if he reports additional contact or FL reports additional contact. However, performing exegesis on the thread for you puts me in a very foul mood, so I am off this thread and will close out of the forums very shortly to enjoy a nice cup of chaga tea.

You are correct DoC, as Christians we're not always perfect and we've all been guilty of that to one degree or another. At the end of the day FL is a business and we should let them deal with their customers as they see fit. That will help them grow as a business and in experience on how to resolve problems. My apologies to the OP, I hope his problem gets fixed. In fairness to him, the response he received ("sorry we no longer support your version") was not helpful. Hopefully FL will train their employees to give a better response next time around. In fairness to FL and Bob the CEO of the company, they have gone through a lot of changes and we should give them a chance to adjust to such changes instead of bashing them. There are a lot of things that happen behind the scenes that we don't know about and if we are patience and understanding with one another, then we'll be able to create a better environment in the forums and avoid this constant complaining about a company who has given us the best tool in the world for Bible study.
And you MJ, enjoy your tea and thanks for sticking around this long. I'll go have my own cup of tea too (Jasmine mixed with Chamomile and milk 🍼 hehe).
And you Michael, my apologies to you too. Feeling attacked is not a reason to attack back and that's what I did. None of us are perfect, all we can do is try.
Alright, I hear the tea kettle calling me. Have a great night!
Blessings!
