Commentary highlight and displaying indicator in Bible

Is there a way to display a note/highlight indicator within my bible that links back to any or all highlights within commentaries for a particular verse?

For example:

Say I highlight some text inside NAC pertaining to Romans 6:1. Is there a way I can 'see' that I highlighted a commentary when reading Romans 6:1?

Thanks!

Yes, but you must attach the note to the "reference" rather than the "selection." Notice on the upper right side, I have "Titus 1:1-3" selected and to the right it says "reference."

Not if you highlight some text.

If, however, you create a note against the Bible reference an indicator will show up in all Bibles and Commentaries at the appropriate point

Thank you both for such a detailed and quick response!

I was hoping for something a less cumbersome [:)]; since sometimes I only highlight fragments of a commentary section, adding a note for the entire section is excessive and doesn't let me quickly see the portion i'm interested in.

Perhaps I'll put in a request for a new feature.

    Thanks!

    Totally understand

Perhaps I'll put in a request for a new feature.

It's been discussed on many occasions and the problem is related to the fact that highlights are (under the hood) "notes by selection" whereas the only notes that are shared across Bibles and commentaries are "notes by reference".

(Technically, you can achieve what you want now across Bibles with reverse interlinears but that's not relevant to commentaries).

The only thing I can suggest is that you use a dual approach - it is somewhat cumbersome but may get you close to what you are looking for.

    1) Create the highlight as you want it in your commentary - this won't create an indicator in Bibles but will create a highlight in the relevant notesfile. Here I've created one in the NAC commentary on Romans and it appears in the notesfile I have for that resource.

    2) Set an icon for the highlight (click on the small box to the left of the highlight in the notes document) - I've gone for a yellow box

    3) Hover over the notes entry and select "Edit attachment points"

    4) Add in the reference to the relevant verse - Rom 6:1 - and click Done

    5) This gives you an indicator in your Bible that there is a note somewhere - and hovering over the icon shows which notesfile it is in (and because I am using a separate notesfile for each resource it tells me what resource it is in)

It is a little bit more work but it is best I can think of to get you what you want.

If any of this doesn't make sense please advise and we'll try to clarify.

This is a great workaround! Not completely ideal, but will work!

    Thanks!
