Needing help.....

I just upgraded from Libronix to Logos 4 Platinum for the MAC. I was under the impression that Logos 4 was going to pull all my references from Libronix.
1) How do I know if all the referenced material have been pulled in. When I click on resources I see 1272 resources to pull from.
2) Both the Libronix and Logos 4 is on my MAC system. Why is that if the Logos 4 is suppose to overwrite the Libronix?
3) When I type a word in to do a word study; the widow pane does not come up for the entire search, just resources from the bibles populate.
4) I do not have the three major widow pane on my home screen.
There're more problems with this upgrade them anticipated. I'm almost sorry that I spent the money for the upgrade for Logos 4 for MAC. I was overwhelmed with joy to read about the wonderful changes to Logos 4, that I bought what is argue mentally the best bible software every invented. Only to find the level of difficulty with deep frustration of navigating through Logos 4 for MAC. I understand it is a work in progress. I will set here and adore the pain of an uncompleted software, Why, because I love Logos. I just wished someone would have told me of all these difficulties. It wouldn't have stop me from upgrading I would have been better prepared mentally. Disappointed yes, yet you never produced a bad product. Waiting on the finished product with frustration turning into a smile.

Hi Jeffrey,
How sad that you didn't find this forum until after you upgraded. The conversations we have here would have given you some indication that we all have various difficulties and frustrations with the Alpha incarnations. However most of us are content to raise the issues here because we see a lot of them ironed out in the fortnightly issues of revise versions.
In regard to your four points...
1. The resource count should be the same for Libronix and Logos 4 unless you have some esoteric resources that have yet to be converted.
2. Logos 4 does not overwrite Libronix and both can coexist quite happily on the same machine and run concurrently. This is an advantage while there are still wrinkles to iron out with Logos 4 alpha.
3. Not quite sure what you mean here - but with A15 when you do a word search it is done from the 'Guides' drop down menu. The dictionaries etc then open up in a pane on the passage guide layout. However I find that I have to remember to put in American spelling for some words. The word search is one of those features which is a work in progress.
4 Neither does anybody else. The home page is populated by the input from blogs and other sources. I think you may be referring to the layout for a passage guide that you get when either using the lower of the two input windows or by going to 'Guides' - 'Passage Guide'
If you are still having difficulties with the Alpha give us a note about the particulars and we will do our best to help.

Hi
Unfortunately reality is that it is still very much Alpha software, that means not even Beta, which means it is not even feature complete yet. So people can't even test/debug things yet because many things are not even written yet for the Mac. And also indexing is still 'mega-painful' slow compared to the Windows version (which was made first).
However - depending on your Mac & available software - all is not lost. If you have a Mac capable of running some virtualisation software (VMware Fusion, Parallels, etc.) and you have that software with a Windows virtual machine on it then you can, with the same Logos 4 license, run Logos 4 Windows. Yes we all unlove Windows, but it gets you into Logos 4 while waiting for the Mac version.
I don't bother to run the Mac version (yet) it's still too rough, I'll revisit it about beta 2 or 3.
Good luck!

I know this does not address the core issue, but just wanted to offer some perspective. In my experience, indexing on the Mac Alpha is faster than it was for our first Windows Beta versions. Indexing in the Windows Beta last October was a LOT worse than indexing for the Mac Alpha. So while it can be frustrating, indexing in the Mac is still way better than the windows Beta version. So comparing comparing "apples to apples", as it were, I think coming second in the production order has its benefits :-)Patrick S. said:And also indexing is still 'mega-painful' slow compared to the Windows version (which was made first).

But it's more like comparing a completed Volkswagen Golf (Windows) to an unfinished Mercedes (Mac) with only three wheels. The production (what is available) Logos Win has indexing which is far faster than the alpha pre-production Logos Mac. I'm running both on my Mac Pro and so have experience of both (well actually I only dabble in the Mac version now and then and then turn it off and remove the indexer from ~/Library/Launch Agents to stop it's indexing [;)] ).
Anyway... I thought that the indexing code was part of the shared code engine (not UI) from Logos 4 Windows which is complete - or am I not allowed to go there [:#] [;)]
