Downloadable update

Does anyone know if there is a downloadable executable file to update L4 like there is/was in L3? This would make things much easier for non-internet connected PCs. I have been able to update my offline computer in the past, but it seems I have to try several different times, as L4 usually becomes unusable in the process.

It is a command within the Command Box - "Update Resources"

Thanks for the reply, but I was referring to a computer that does not have internet access. L3 allowed you to download a file, about 130Mb, that was an executable file that would update your existing installation from a flash drive/CD. I was wanting to update to 4.0b on this computer.

I believe, but don't know, that the other option is cd. I assumed, incorrectly, that by "run a script" you implied internet connection. My apologies.

Accepted, but not necessary. I truly appreciate the time and effort that Logos, the MVPs and all the newsgroup users put into helping those of us who are not as experienced with Logos as you all are. A little help means a lot!

When L4 was first introduced, somebody published a method to install updates to additional PCs. Here is a link to that alternate method:

Does this method work with L4.0b?

I think the question is if the entire installation program can be downloaded, put on a USB drive or CD and taken to another off-line machine and then executed. I believe the answer is no. We can execute the installer while online, but I know of no avenue through which to get an executable update file of the program. I hope someone who knows more than I do can point you in the right direction.

Not that I'm aware.
If you attempt a new installation from the web link logos4.msi is stored in \Logos4\Install\Installers and you can execute that on the offline machine (this means creating a temporary user account on your online machine, or using an account where L4 is not installed. You don't have to complete the installation!). You can get an update logos4.msi from your working installation but you have to get it before you OK the update as it will be deleted afterward. The location is \Logos4\Data\{random}\UpdateManager\Installers.
With that logos4.msi you can quickly install a clone of your working 4.0b by using Method 1 at http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers Note that Method 3 maybe safer but it involves indexing whilst Method 2 requires a Custom installation. Obviously, you ignore the quoted download link and the need to go offline!
