BUG: My basic search function doesn't work

When I do a basic search for a bible passage, it returns 0 results in my bibles and doesn't link any commentaries, etc.
If I type rebuild bible index in the command box and do a re-index, it solves the issue most of the time. But this is super tedious and doesn't seem to be a working long term solution.
Any help is appreciated.

Please provide the details of the search you are doing - ideally with a screenshot (use the paperclip icon to attach it to a reply)

This is an example of where I rebuilt the bible index and it still didn't work.
Thanks - very helpful.
This is searching for the string "John 1:12" or references to that passage.
However, because that string doesn't actually appear in the Bible you don't get any hits
You should see hits in your concordances and other resources in the "Library Results" section.
Searching for Bible references in Bibles doesn't typically work - more often its easiest to simply open the Bible to that point.
If you do actually want to locate this in a Bible you can do a Milestone search {MIlestone <John 1:12>} and that should find it
This will also constrain commentary results to those which are directly commenting on that particular verse.
Does this make sense / help?
What are you actually trying to achieve?

Whilst the Bible index is used for bible searches it doesn't affect Everything nor Basic searches on bibles; the Library index is used there! As you now know to check whether your search query will work, you can use the search wiki for more information and avoid the pain of unnecessary reindexing.
