grrrr...update error

'update available' and it starts to update to the L4 upgrade. Then I get this message: "c/user/valerie/... verify that you have access to that directory".
I do have access but that doesn't seem to help. Whats wrong here? Help!

Valerie, are you running Vista or Windows 7? It looks like this thread describes the very problem you're having, and Bradley's post (6th one down) gives the solution: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/3539.aspx
Easy way to find if anyone else has a solution to a puzzling error message in Logos:
Google search: "puzzling error message" site:community.logos.com
(replacing "puzzling error message" with some unique and general text from your actual message, of course; I left off the user-specific stuff and searched for "verify that you have access to that directory").
Hope this one I found is the right solution for you. There are other hits for that Google search if not, so repeat it and poke around through those other threads.
Cheers! [:)]

The fix is probably to reset the file permissions on your install
folder (and all files & subfolders) so that they're writable by your
non-elevated user account; once you do this, non-elevated updates
should succeed. How do I reset file permissions?

How do I reset file permissions?
Google search to the rescue again:
Searching for "file permissions" Vista found this how-to page, which should be helpful:

I'm perturbed by this in the other thread:-
Valerie Pobog said:I did as was advised here (right
click, run as administrator) but received this messagec\user\appdata\local\logos4\logos4.exe is not a valid win32
applicationCan you still run L4 from its shortcut?

Right click your user Logos4 folder, select Properties and
then Security:-Click Advanced:-
Note that both Administrators and the User Dave have Full
Control for "this folder, subfolders and files".Do you have these permissions? Do you have a tick in the box under Change
Permissions? It would help if you could post an image of this dialog box.

Mine looks exactly the same as yours (with my attributes of course). And there is a 'tick' under 'change permissions. It seems like I'm the only one having this error? ack!

I would add the picture but I don't know how. I guess I'm one of the ones for whom these issues shouldn't be so complicated. My computer is new and I'm the only one that uses it.

I think you have tried the other suggested fixes (run with elevated Admin permission), but can you still run L4?
Turn on permanent logging, start L4 and run the update again. Remember the actual folder/file that has the permissions issue and upload all the logs that have the same/similar date & time!
