Thoughts and Feelings on 4.0b release
I'm very grateful to have chosen a company that's dedicated to providing services such as valuable updates and helpful videos! Thank you Logos team for all your hard work and effort and for creating an a powerful and useful product that's a blessing as well!
Sadly the update didn't include the feature I want the most, which is to be able to collapse and organize (by type, author, rating, etc.) my search results. I find the 20+ pages of search results to be overwhelmingly unusable, but other than that, I'm very happy with all the updates and will keep my fingers crossed to see collapsible search results in the future!

I understand you dilema. What I have found is that spending a little time creating collections will enable you to target your searches and narrow your results. There are others on the forum who are more capable than I am regarding complex collections but there is some great information on the Wiki regarding collections. I also recommend Mark Barnes videos on dynamic collections. My custom passage guide is almost exclusivley searching collections now rather than all of the resources in my library. Keep playing with it and you will eventually have a customized list of collections that will help in your study.
There is also information available on the Wiki regarding search strings that may also help you.

I'm with you. That was the first correction I suggested. I have the Platinum Edition and there are resources in there I'm not familiar with so the by doing searches on collections will give me managable results within the resources I'm aware of and pick, it defeats a good deal of the power of Logos. It isn't a deal breaker but to me it is a major issue.

Instead of just "by book" or "by ranking" then also allow "by author" etc...

I like the ideas here related to results grouped by 'author' and also to "collapsing."

It may seem like "going-overboard" but I have created a collection that (1) specifically deletes all Bibles and all Commentaries.
Then I went through my Library and created a number of collections like Lexicons which I also deleted. Certain Journals (like Semeai) and Authors also received this treatment.
All of these unwanted collections were dragged into the "Minus these resources' window (to save individual dragging of books).
(yes, it still comprises about half of My Library) But I can search with the "Cited by" tool. It has greatly reduced the number of pages of hits and therefore is a little more manageable. I have the sure knowledge that I can search it for topics or specific scripture verses, knowing that NONE of these resources would have ever have come up in a regular Biblical commentary search.
Once thehard work has been done, if a particular resource still gives too many "false" or "useless" hits it can be individually removed (or even put into a further Collection) to be excluded.

The collapsing feature for notes has been "announced" by Melissa as a coming feature. I would expect the function to be fairly generic so there is hope that it may come in other places as well.

Having a large library has it's downfalls; in another post I recall someone asking what using Logos will be like after 5-10 years of resource purchases. I've already got more commentaries than I can possibly consult...I have to force myself away from the computer until I finish critically examining a text or I'll start cheating and then spend a day chasing electronic rabbits.
I understand the collection advice, and eventually will follow it more, but would like to see search a bit easier to deal with--19 pages of hits on a topic is daunting to find the golden nugget in.

Collapsing results would be great.
And the ability to go "classic" view with topics.

Importing notes. Nice job!
Prayer lists. Very nice. I hope to see some more attention to this though.
Keep up the great work, Logos. I really do believe that the interaction that Logos has with its users is one of the reasons for the growth of this program.
