Intereesting, at least to me.  I usually have the internet off set on my laptop becuase I dont normally run dual monitors with it and want everything to be the same when reopen the program.  I went ahead and typed in "update now" and sure enough it is updating and indexing.  I checked the settings and the internet off is still selected...things that make you go hmmmmmmm...

    This makes sense, at least to me:

    Internet off = No automatic updating.

    Update now = Manual update when invoked irregardless of an automated schedule (or not).
