New Phone Suggestions? Store to SD card?

I'm currently using an LG V10, with a cracked screen. The cost to replace the screen is half the price to get a new phone, and I haven't been fond of the V10.

I'm looking at Motorola's new line, but want to buy an option that lets me store my logos library on an SD card. Any thoughts from the community?

You can usually enable "adoptable storage" on Android 6.0 or newer without rooting the device.

That lets you leverage the entire SD card as internal storage.

(As Kevin has pointed out before, that's not officially supported. But it works fine anyhow. Two downsides I've noticed: Starting up Logos takes a bit longer, maybe around 40 to 60 seconds. Then you can only download around 11,000 cover images unless you format the SD card as ext4 - which should be good for a new phone, but very painful once the SD card is packed with user data.)

In addition to what Jan has said, here's another approach: I recently bought the ZTE Axon 7 with 64GB. I don't know how much storage you need, but it allows me to store all the resources I'm likely ever to look at away from my PC with no sacrifice in performance. The reviews I've read about it confirm my impression that it's an amazing phone and a very good value. The display is awesome enough that reading these resources on it is a great experience.

Derek, further to Jan and Lew's excellent suggestions, I'm finding the 'Oneplus 3T': https://oneplus.net/ a joy to use. I went with the 128GB version (64GB is also available). If you are in the UK, it's also available on the high street through O2. Currently I have about 1000 Logos books with several Mobile Ed video courses and audio (total 22.5GB), numerous apps, games, movies, music, audio books, photo's etc. Still plenty of space remaining for future additions 40GB+).

While it doesn't have any expandable storage; the price, features, performance, battery life, regular updates, OLED display and built in storage has been a rather a good all-round solution for me.

Upgrading the phone as others mention is not always an option.

Developers of Android apps need to explicitly make their apps available to move to the SD card using the “android:installLocation” attribute in the <manifest> element of their app. If they don’t, the option to “Move to SD card” is grayed out.

We purchased a $20 prepaid phone with a 32GB sd for the sdcard slot (Moto E Tracfone from Amazon.com, runs Android 5.0). We are using it as a music source in the sound booth. We installed only a few apps because we knew the memory was low, but both Logos and Faithlife killed the storage because neither the application or its downloads can go to the sdcard. My apologies for purchasing a Logos package.

If adoptable storage is an option, that's one thing, but not all users will want to (or know to) use that feature, So Logos/Faithlife should still allow being moved to the SD card regardless of Android version.

FWIW I upgraded from my Motorola Droid Maxx 2 (which had Marshmallow 6.0.1 and an adopted 64GB SD card) largely because I kept running out of space since not _all_ apps accept the idea that the sdcard should be the internal storage. When the apps refused to update, the insanity ensued!
