Help please, nothing to do with FL

I need some advice. I'm old school and use only email. I was frustrated this afternoon when I watched an online bible discussion. The only way to log on was through facebook or twitter. I have resisted both of them due to security concerns. I don't use a smartphone. Is it possible to use FB or TW on a desktop and stay safe? Which is better? Should I get a SP and only use that for FB or TW? Can you use FB without having an account? How do you stay safe? I'm reluctant to bite the bullet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can set up either one on the web at twitter.com or facebook.com. As with any site, be careful when clicking links. I've seen ads on Facebook launch ransomeware attempts, so stay away from ads there. Twitter's safe, except there are people like me who are always looking for something wrong on the internet.

I've never had any trouble using FB or Twitter. Mostly just a management issue rather than a security issue. No different really than email. Of the two, I'd pick FB. Twitter doesn't really add anything much other than the Daily Deals for Logos.

Safe is relative. Safe against the average joe on the street? yup. just be sensible with the information you post. Even posting the letters after your name can lead back to your home address these days.

Safe against a government level attack while living in some creative access country led by those hostile to the faith? Probably not. No.
