Can this be done in Logos? I can already pull up the NA28 text in the Synopsis of the Four Gospels resource. Is there a way to apply to coloring either manually or access a script that already has applied McKnight's colors to it?
Hello Mikel,
Thank you very much for your message. I saw that you originally replied to this thread: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/4089.aspx
Not sure exactly where you're running into a problem with highlighting, as I went ahead and opened the resource in parallel and was able to highlight properly without any problems.
If I'm misinterpreting the question please expand further on your question so I can effectively answer it for you.
Can this be done in Logos?
Welcome [:D]
Yes since manually can apply McKnight's source criticism => http://www.balboa-software.com/nt1/Gospel%20Criticism%20-%20Part%201.pdf to NA28. PDF has McKnight color examples:

Learned can apply underline highlighting in NA28 that does not appear in the Synoptic of the Four Gospels. Also learned highlighting a word Ἐγὼ in Synoptic of the Four Gospels appears as ... in Note document (changed note style to orange circle after underline did not appear in Synopsis) while highlighting NA28 has surface text in Note document:
Keep Smiling [:)]
Thanks for the reply. I ended up just exporting the Synopsis with NA28 text and doing my highlights in Preview on a Mac. I can try this next time.
If you have the Parallel Gospel Reader interactive, then you can hover a word in the synopsis and have the respective targets in the others highlight as well. Not exactly what you were looking for, but it might help some with your task.
This also works in the Synopsis of Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles.
Hope it helps.
First, some disclaimers. I am not a specialist. I am a perpetual newbie at Greek. I am familiar with the idea of synopsis, but have made no study of it. Your question has drawn my attention to this problem and I would like to learn. I have done some probing and found an interesting approach online. A four color highlighting scheme is presented by Stephen C. Carlson which claims to have the advantage of simplicity over McKnight's colors. Do you support this opinion?
His presentation can be found here http://www.hypotyposeis.org/synoptic-problem/ Another reviewer represented his convention here http://www.textexcavation.com/fourcolors.html If you have completed a Visual Filter for the Gospels it would be helpful if you would join the Logos Visual Filters Faithlife group and share it in documents. I would be interested even if you decided to stick with McKnight's color convention.
Hi Rick,
I think the question here (or at least my question) is this:
Can I replicate the attached photo in the Logos version of Aland's Synopsis, and if so, how? Thanks!
Hi John.
Because of the way Aland's synopsis is structured in Logos (can bring in passages from any edition/translation), highlighting isn't supported.
It is a great question, though, and I understand how useful it can be. I've forwarded your request on as an example of what we should support with synopsis/harmony resources.
- Rick
+1 [Y] would appreciate visual filters being usable in Harmony resources with dynamic text (similar to Bible Browser):
Work around is using a Passage List.
👍 wow would that be a killer feature!
I'm just curious, what McKnight book are you referring to?
Thanks!
