Now vs Cloud [linux user]

I am a Linux user, who runs Logos 5 Gold in a Windows VM. This is rather troublesome, and I've found myself using Biblia.com more often than Logos, since Biblia.com has access to my Logos library and works on Linux without a VM.

I was rather excited to discover that Logos is moving toward the Web, with Logos Now. (https://www.logos.com/now > "Find Answers Fast with the Logos Web App") I'm moments from jumping in and paying the $100/yr for it.

However, upon looking more closely, I am now very, very confused.

https://app.logos.com/signup gives two options. It seems to position Logos Now as a superset of Logos Cloud. Words like "Full access to the web app". However, https://logoscloud.com/ gives three different pricing plans, the cheapest of which is more expensive than Logos Now. Logos Now also includes words like "exclusive discounts on Logos 7". I thought Logos Now included Logos 7 features...

So, with that context in mind, I will attempt to distill my confusion into two questions:

1) Is the following true?: Logos Now will allow me to access my Logos 5 Gold library, along with Logos 7 features, and a small handful of Logos 8 early release features, in my web browser, at app.logos.com. (Yes, I understand that Logos Now may be missing a feature or two, because it simply hasn't been ported from desktop to web yet, but the expectation is that that list of missing features will shrink over time as the development team finishes porting it.)

2) What is Logos Cloud, and why would I pay more for it? Is it for people who don't own a library, and want to essentially rent one?

I didn't quite follow all of that, but for clarification: The web app (which is made available to both Logos Now & I believe Logos Cloud members) does NOT have all the features of L7.

Logos Now is a membership program. One of the biggest features is access to ALL datasets, including future ones under development. Another benefit is access to the Web App. As I said above, the Web App does NOT have access to all features.

Logos Cloud is different... it is the RENTAL of resources (rather than the PURCHASE of a library).

A Logos Now subscription keeps you up to date with all Logos features, including a few that require constant internet access, and a few bonuses (such as monthly free preview resources) in your desktop application.

The web app is an under-development feature made available as part of Now. It offers access to your resources (similar to biblia.com) and a few of the features of the desktop application. In my opinion, it is still in a very rough and unready condition, to the point that I find it unusable. If you are looking for it as a replacement of the desktop (such as in your Linux situation), I think you would be very disappointed with it. (I have tried to use it as a supplement for my Windows desktop application and have still been very disappointed with it.)

2) What is Logos Cloud, and why would I pay more for it? Is it for people who don't own a library, and want to essentially rent one?

This is correct. If you presently have the resources you need, there is no need for you to get Cloud.

Since this thread is from Feb I figured you may have even more understanding now. My windows computer has been having many issues. I am thinking of moving over to my Ubuntu machine. Have you tried Logos Now? I am thinking of just doing a dual boot where I am only using Logos on the windows partition.
What have you noticed as the best way of utilizing Logos on Linux?

The truth is that I don't use Logos much. When I do, I either dual boot to windows or use biblia.com to access my library.

Rebooting my machine is sufficiently expensive that I am rarely willing to do it for any reason; I commonly go months between reboots.

Have you tried https://app.logos.com/ recently using a modern browser on linux ? Web app has substantially more capabilities than biblia.com

Forum => Logos Web App has many threads that include discussion of many improvements. Notes is being revamped first for the web app, which will be ported to desktop and mobile.

This isn't relevant, but since you're curious... I have no interest in my workstation being infected with malware, and I have the skills to make my machine bullet-proof, so I do. This involves proper ACL decisions, strong passwords, hash-stretching (makes authentication take multiple seconds, in a way that cannot be bypassed), and full drive encryption. I'm lazy, and haven't installed my decryption key in the intraramfs of my secondary bootloader, so I have to decrypt my filesystem twice to start up. I use a DVORAK keyboard layout but my bootloader speaks QWERTY, so I go dig out a QWERTY keyboard whenever I boot.

Additionally, I have three monitors and run a window manager with multiple workspaces, so that's a lot of windows that I can, at times, have open; my window manager tries to restore them on startup, but there's only so much it can do. As a corollary, I frequently am using one of those windows, or at least want it to keep doing something in the background.
