Logos 3 Notes

Okay--I see some folks talking about importing Logos 3 notes into Logos 4--but I don't see how to do it? I have lbxnot files, and would like to import them. Is there a secret?

If you now have 4.0b you put "Import Notes" in the Command box. Or "Import All"...

This only works if you have Logos 3 installed? Or is there a way to import from a file? When I type "import notes" nothing happens...

I assumed this to be the case considering your question. Most making the transition to Logos4 held onto 3 because of continued use of notes, PBB's, etc. If you have Logos 3 still on your machine, has your 4.0a updated to 4.0b yet? The command will not work unless you've updated.

it may work without L3 installed, have succeded importing this way, but some complex files might not import right.

I don't have 3 still installed... I am on 4.0b, so the command shows up. When I run the command, though, nothing seems to happen (well, the second time I ran it, Logos crashed, but it crashes all the time, so I'm not certain the two are related).

Perhaps others can help more than me. But it would seem as though Logos 4 searches the folders that L3 did in order to import the notes. You still have the L3 folders and not the engine?

DominicM: Where were the files located that you imported? In the old Logos 3 folders, or (?)... That might be part of the problem--4 might be looking in a specific place for the files (?). I can't imagine it searches my entire hard drive for importable files?

I just have the files, not even the folders... That's probably the problem. I could put them into a specific folder, but I don't know what the folder name/etc should be on Win 7 (the reality is I went to Logos 4 before going to Win 7, so the install I have on Win 7 is "technically" a new install, rather than an upgrade--there never was logos 3 on this machine under this operating system).

In your Documents folder create this folder structure & put your note files there...
"Libronix DLS\Annotations"

That's right. You don't have to have L3 installed, but you do need a folder in "MyDocuments/Libronix DLS" for the folders "Annnotations", "ResourceMarkup", "PrayerLists", etc. When you "Import All" or just one of those items, L4 will look there for what it needs. So you can just copy those folders and files there. Mine all came in beautifully on a new computer under Windows 7.

I was in the exact same boat. This worked perfectly for me as well.
Many thanks.
