Save/Export Text Comparison on Mac

All of the options available to export from the Text Comparison Tool only have options, none of which can be opened in Pages. I want to manipulate margins and highlight words, and that can't be done in TextEdit, nor in the Text Comparison Tool.

What am i missing?

I don't understand your question! You have mentioned "none of which can be opened in Pages," but then you add that certain things can't be done in "TextEdit."

Can you explain a bit more?

I can tell you that due to a change in the Text Comparison Tool, some export features have changed.

There are 5 options for exporting the Text Comparison as a file:

RTF (which on a Mac can only be opened in TextEdit which does not allow highlighting nor adjusting margins)

Text Document, which loses all the formating and columns and seems to be to serve no purpose of any kind.

HTML which give a pretty page, but can not be imported into Pages or highlighted or adjust the margins

Image which produces only a blank page for me

PDF which allows highlighting in the Preview app, but not adjustment of margins.

The problem is that this should really be exported into Pages on a Mac. I am currently getting by using PDF because i can highlight, but being able to adjust to margins is kind of a key thing

    I feel your pain John.

But if you want me to rub salt in the wound...

    1. Download Libre Office (free)
    2. Save Text Comparison (TC) to an RTF file.
    3. Open the RTF file with Libre Office
    4. Save as DOCX file
    5. Open DOCX file with Pages
    6. Bobs your Uncle!

... told you it would hurt!

    Hi John,

Thanks for taking the time to post about this. I'm sorry but Apple's newer version of Pages took away some services taking away our ability to connect to Pages in this manner. You can Export the content to the clipboard and then paste it into Pages as a workaround.

I find this response frustrating. Apple changed Pages several years ago. To give that as the reason that Text Comparison doesn't export in a useable format for Mac users is absurd.

Secondly, Tommy, have you actually tried 3exporting to the clipboard and pasting into pages? Did it work? Did it maintain the columns? Yeah, you try that and get back to me. I hate responses from support people who have never tried what they are saying is a solution.

Thanks, Mike. It's inelegant and an extra step, but at least it works. I appreciate your help.
