It would be great if Logos developed a tool that queries texts for collocations of lemmas. I am wondering if the technology that is used by universities to detect plagiarism in dissertations could be adapted to do something like this. But I confess that I am not sure how the latter works and whether it actually detects collocations. I am not sure either whether the "Phrases" section of the Exegetical Guide actually queries texts or is based on a manually compiled database. If the former, it could also be put to use for what I have in mind.
What do I have in mind then? To be able to compare two ranges of texts (of course, too large a selection would probably spell disaster in terms of system resource). Sure, we can do NEAR searches and it achieves some of that. But such searches are only useful if one is already set on searching a specific collocation. Instead what I propose is something that allows the user to find collocations that one may not even think of looking for.
Fantasy? Perhaps.
