Parallel resources vs. "+"

How is the new parallel resources button different from just clicking the "+" sign (which opens a new tab but also searches resources to open).  I see that the parallel resources are somewhat customizable--able to include collections.  Any other thoughts?

I think this was pretty much the point ie that now our own collections can be used this way - that we can circle through them by using the right-arrow.
