This is the Day! Hey!

To be sung to the well known tune: This is the Day.
This is the day, this is the day,
when the Alpha comes, when the Alpha comes.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice,
and be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day when the Alpha comes;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day! Hey! This is the day,
when the Alpha comes.

Yes, for me, but what about those poor souls still without the Saviour? It would be way worse than missing out on a Community Price or PrePub offer. There are so many people in my parish who need to come to repentance and faith.
Cf. 2 Peter 3:9.

Gee thanks alot Alan, now I can't even rejoice in the thought of the return of our Lord without feeling guilty! [:P] (Humor)
I have seen you talk a little bit about the Parish ministry that you participate in and I find it fascinating. As an US city boy, it strikes a blank spot in my personal experience and challenges some preconceived attitudes towards the ministry as a whole.

Yes Ministry in the Church of Scotland is really good. Because the whole country is divided up into parishes and every parish has a minister (or should have) every individual has a minister who should be praying for them.
Alan is responsible for the souls of all the pagans, spiritualist, agnostics, atheists and other members of other assorted sects that live in his parish - quite some responsibility!
By the way - congratulations on getting the health care bill through - always a bit worrying - the morality of supporting a country with a third world health care system - well done.

Thanks, my wife and I sat and watched the vote counts tick up, it was quite exciting. But enough of this, and back to feeling guilty over the return of Jesus. (Humor)

Does anybody know what time the Alpha usually gets released. I too am anxiously waiting for it to come out. I love Logos, but I miss my old PC functions, and do not want to have to buy a virtualizer or run bootcamp. The only thing that makes it really helpful right now is the ability to have so many of my books on the iTouch. I know Logos is working fast, and it will be worth the wait, and patience is a Christian virtue, but it is sooo hard! I use Logos so much every day!

Actually, last time didn't it not break till Wednesday and the time before that on Tuesday?
The Alpha's usually break around 2:30 EST and are always available for manual download first and automatic downloads a few minutes later.

I am sure this is a joke... It is a sad thing to watch the government dismiss the Constitution.

I think the above statement is sorely inappropriate as (1) it has no place in this topic (and probably these forums in general) and (2) assumes that everyone is likeminded on the issue (which I assure you is not true).

There were a few comments above in regards to the Health Care Bill, you can't just quote one and say "it" was inappropriate, unless of course you have a bias, which in a democracy everyone has a bias or an opinion. Opinions are like arm pits, we all have them, and they all stink.*
Some people will always be for a bill or cause or whatever and some will be against it.
But you are right, the comments about Health Care really have no place here, unless you can tie them into Logos.

You are correct, and my apologies for singling one statement out. Correction: (in my opinion) none of the statements about the health care bill are appropriate here.

There is off-topic and then there is OFF-TOPIC.
Politics falls into the later. Theological debates make a bit of sense here but politics ........... moan.
Logos is the world's best Bible software. As such, the Logos user base encompasses people of many nations, political systems and economic groups. I'm sure our pespectives and understanding differ widely on each country's internal issues. I don't think the posts were meant as jokes or antgonisms. I sense a spirit of love and care behind them. I would hate for debate & criticism to run wild here.
Whatever your own opinions on US politics, remember our God is in control and even when the Roman government was oppressing the world, the Apostle Paul was preserved to accomplish God's will.
We are to rejoice in the Day that the Lord has made. [:D] Thanks for letting me speak.

Far be it from me to wish to cause any offence - my only excuse is that the whole thread is only marginally on topic - and my aside was attached to a response that strayed further from the actual subject of Logos.
Any way it seems that I wrongly assumed that everyone here was likely to be in favour of healing the sick.
Sorry folks - back into my hole to give thanks for the NHS.

None taken. Considering the USA is sharply divided over how to address our national issues, you can't make a statement one way or the other without lighting a fuse. [:@] I can't say any more without throwing gasoline on the fire. [:#]

Mike Binks said:… the whole thread is only marginally on topic
My initial post was completely on-topic. [:P] I was giving thanks in song for Logos as a vehicle of God's Word and looking forward to the regular improvements we receive every two weeks, when a new Alpha is released.

There are many hymns in praise of God's Word. [;)] Mine was just a pathetic parody calculated (Maths was never my best subject, at least not according to my Dad who was a Maths teacher) to bring a smile to people's faces, as we await the latest fruits of the hard work of our Mac developers.
Bless you all, who responded. [:D] It has brought a few smiles and chuckles to me, as I have my weekly day-of-rest (every Monday) before I plunge back into the parish tomorrow.
As the Scots saying goes: Half fun, 'hale earnest! [;)] (Ask Mike to translate.)
Every blessing

P.S. Have you noticed how silent the devs have been today, not a peep from them on this on-topic thread which is unusual. Have they got something up their sleeves to astound and delight us? Or are they in purdah? Maybe they're just not musical!

I certainly hope that Alpha 16 astounds and delights you. Personally, I didn't start reading the thread until it got a bit more...umm...interesting, so I thought I'd sit back a bit.
That said, I usually publish the Alpha to http://www.logos.com/logos4mac BEFORE I release it to the auto update channel. I don't usually set it to auto update until I've got all of the release notes compiled and I'm still waiting for some notes to come in.

It doesn't need to index unless there are new/revised resources included. Even if there are, indexing should be over pretty soon, as it builds a supplementary index.

Downloading a new version of the app manually is nearly identical in result to allowing it to auto update. The primary difference being that you will have to manually download it and copy it to your applications directory. All auto update does is download it and prompt you to do the moving. Other than that, it's the same thing.
Also, the link I used is the same link that is in the FAQ and the same link that you would've used when you initially installed it. That link always grabs the latest published version.
