I'm in Papua New Guinea, using mobile internet (3G) through Digicel. Often downloads are pretty fast, but downloads from the Logos server take forever (which is about 32mb an hour, or so).
Any suggestion?
Hello Michel,
Thank you very much for your post. I apologize for the trouble you've been experiencing with our downloads. The reason for your problem may potentially be a ping based problem. Usually when you download something it usually picks the nearest server and work from there, but since our server is located in the US (WA state) it may be too far of a distance to provide a stable download connection, hence why you're experiencing a slow download.
Usually Mobile Internet has a very high ping to begin with, so I would recommend maybe using a wired connection. Would this be a possibility for you?
We do have that possibility, but unfortunately the costs are 2.5 times the costs of mobile internet.
I experienced the same problem.

I do recall that it has been much better one or two years ago or so. We've always used mobile internet and only last year we've experienced this slow downloading. What has happened to your server?
And as Logos users spread over the world, would there be a way to set up another server, e.g. in Europe and/or Asia?
Here are some questions in a row (sorry, I'm not able to edit my previous post, so this will repeat a few things):
1. what has happened over the last one or two years, because at least 2 years ago, I didn't have any problem downloading Logos resources over the same mobile connection?
2. as Logos users are spread over the world, is Logos / Faithlife considering setting up an additional server, say in Europe?
3. why do videos download quicker than the resources?!
This morning I downloaded:
- the resources through 'update now' --> download; the download was very slow again
- then one of the new resources was Verbum Advanced Search Training, the videos of which were only downloaded when trying to open them. This downloading went really fast, compared with the 'update now' downloading of resources. Why this difference? I guess both the resources as well as the videos are stored on the same servers?!

For resource and application downloads, we already use a "content delivery network" (and have for several years).
You can see a map of locations here: https://www.fastly.com/network-map; I expect you would be downloading from either Asia or Australia and I would hope those would deliver pretty fast transfer speeds. I'm really not sure why you're seeing slow downloads, sorry.
Videos come from the same server network, so I don't know why they would be fast but resources would be slow.
How long does it take to download these two files? (Or: what transfer speeds do you get; you don't have to download the whole file.)
https://resources.logoscdn.com/lls_1.0.710/2017-02-07T19_28_51Z/ESV.logos4
https://resources.logoscdn.com/rvi_esvot/2017-02-07T19_17_05Z/ESVOT.lbsrvi
Both transfer speeds don't exceed 47Kbps.
However, at the same time I get download speeds of 2Mbps and higher (up to 6Mbps) downloading e.g. Windows Updates.
Also when I am not downloading anything else, the Logos resources remain painstakingly slow.
Now I'm downloading 65.3 MB of updates and after 10 minutes it it still at 2%...
