Split screen help

Good Day,

I am interested in using the sermon editor AND have the split screen as my Bible.  However, I am having some issues in making it work well.  I am guessing the problem is user error.

There seems to be a disconnect in what resource I want to change.  When I have the split screen open, I can't seem to edit or change the left side without completely closing the right side.

There must be a better way, am I missing something?

I don't use the Sermon Editor, so I don't know if I can help. However, we will need to know several things from you:

Which specific version of which specific app? Which specific device? Which OS?

    It is iOS in general.

It has been the same for many Logos versions. I would assume since the beginning which is why I assume I am doing something wrong.

You need to ensure that the part of the screen you want to change is "selected" / "in focus".

Try tapping on the left side before trying to change the resource.

If that doesn't give you what you are looking for please provide some more details.

I understand the theory behind what you said about the greyed out side. I have tried what you mentioned in the past and again after you replied but it has not seemed to help me.

I cannot seemingly tap one side and it change which side I came using/editing.  If I want to change the left side, I must close the right side to make the change, then reopen the right side afterwards.  It is a bit awkward.

For instance, if I want to change the sermon on the left side, I must first close the right side and then change the sermon.

If the right side is open, any change made, is made to that side, no matter where I type on the screen.

    Strange

    I've just started from

tapped the sermon on the left, went into the Library and selected a resource and got to here

Some background questions: what device are you using, which version of iOS, which mobile apps and which versions?

    Using iPad Air 2

    ios 10.2.1

    ios logos version 5.13.1

But i would have to say that I have had the same issue for many versions.  Never used split screen before because it has always acted funny.

    Question,

if you tap the right side, and then tap a verse reference on the left the right side should automatically just to that location.

once doing that, does you left side still work as expected? Just tap on it and make your desired change?

Yes - if I understand you correctly, doing what you describe works as expected.

If you are able to it would be useful to post a screenshot showing your layout

In the current state, it would act as I described.

anything I do, will effect the right side unless I close it. Then and only then can I edit/change the left.

i can scroll on the left but nothing else.

As I mentioned before, I don't use the sermon builder feature. For clarification, however: Open two resources side by side. Do you still see the same behavior? In scrolling view, you can scroll both panels without making the non-active panel active. Only the active panel will be replaced with the new resource.

I am starting to think you might be right...

I did as you asked and it did seem to work a little smoother.

Maybe it is a sermon editor issue in the mobile edition.

Playing with it, I did notice that if I open the menu area and then tapped on the sermon, it would make the sermon area change over correctly so that I could change it...

What is the best way to alert Logos of this?

I am not sure if there is a "this" to report. To answer your question, however, the best way is to create a bug report thread.

    1. Create a new thread with a descriptive subject line. It should be prefixed with BUG: (i.e. BUG: Selecting Active Pane)
    2. In the body of the post, provide all appropriate info and steps to reproduce the issue. At a minimum, this should include the specific app (Logos? Verbum? Vyrso?), version (i.e. 5.13.1), device (iPad Air 2), & OS (10.3.1). It isn't enough to say "latest version of app & os." You may <think> you are on the latest, but aren't. Furthermore, as time goes on, new versions will be released and "the latest version" won't be accurate.

I can't reproduce any issues, nor apparently can Graham. We are, however, regular users who provide support in the forums. It may simply be that we are having difficulties reproducing your issue because we use it regularly and know how it is intended to be used. That isn't always helpful when other users have issues and expect it to behave differently. [:s] FWIW - I do think the app needs to do a better job of identifying what the currently "active pane." Right now, it is very hard to tell!

Agreed. I've been using the mobile app for literally 6 years and just completely figured out this behavior last week. [:|]

I have been using the app for about 3 yrs now.

this thread is how I figured it out more thoroughly.

The sermon notes issue was just something found in the process of learning the other.
