I would love to reduce the visual distraction of the toolbar without the constraints of full-screen view. An auto-hide setting like the one Windows uses for its taskbar, would be useful for the Logos toolbar.
That's a fantastic suggestion Francis, and I'm not seeing it on our uservoice page. I strongly suggest tossing that in there, as it gives the best chances for implementation.
In the meantime, an option that you have for something similar is using our "Open in a floating window" option when opening a new resource or tool. While it's not as easy to plug in panels like the normal Logos layout, it's an option that lets you experience a form of your suggestion in the mean time.
