Hi. I am using Logos 7 basic and would like to synchronise the scrolling between the Bible and a commentary which has been imported from a docx file. Is that possible and if so how?
Thanks
Alan
Welcome Alan!
would like to synchronise the scrolling
The first part of this is simple. TO synchronize two resources, you simply make sure they are on the same "Link Set." Click on the book cover in the resource panel to access this info.
between the Bible and a commentary which has been imported from a docx file.
This is the tricker part. Yes, it is possible. You will need to make sure that you have added the appropriate milestones to the .docx file... which isn't a simple procedure for a large document. I will see if I can find the wiki article.
EDIT: Here is the wiki article: https://wiki.logos.com/Personal_Books#Syntax
Thanks for the quick reply
It appears that I use a milestone such as
Presumably these are already in the Bible and I need to add them to the commentary.
It appears that I use a milestone such as [[@Bible:jn 3:16]] Presumably these are already in the Bible and I need to add them to the commentary.
You need to convert the milestones in the commentary to this format e.g. commentary on 2 Samuel chapter 6:
The return of the ark (chap. 6)
6:1-5. comment1 ...
6:6-11. comment2...
6:12–15. comment3... with references to (1 Kings 3:4; 8:62–63).
You need to convert both milestones and references, where necessary. This is not an easy task e.g.
[[@Bible:2 Sam 6]] The return of the ark (chap. 6)
[[@Bible:2 Sam 6:1-5]] [[6:1-5. >> Bible:2 Sam 6:1-5]] comment1 ...
[[@Bible:2 Sam 6:6-11]] [[6:6-11. >> Bible:2 Sam 6:6-11]] comment2...
[[@Bible:2 Sam 6:12-15]] [[6:12-15. >> Bible:2 Sam 6:12-15]] comment3... with references to (1 Kings 3:4; [[8:62–63 >> Bible:1 King 8:62-63]]).
The milestones [[@Bible...]] are not visible and the labels [[6:1-5 >>...]] preserve the commentary text whilst providing a valid link to the text of your preferred bible. I didn't provide a link for "chap. 6" as it wouldn't add value, and "1 Kings 3:4" is automatically converted.
See https://wiki.logos.com/Personal_Books#Hints_and_Tips for more information, especially if the text references other parts of the commentary e.g. "see comment on 1 Kings 3:4"; which should not be treated as a bible reference.
I don't have anything to add to Dave's comments (which are much more knowledgable than mine), but to answer your question: Yes. The added costs of FL resources are due to things like this built in.
