Morphological search for Hebrew lemma כְּ

I've come up with a particular problem concerning the morphological search for Hebrew morphology, and this more than once.

What I want to look for is the Hebrew lemma כְּ (= like, according to, even as, about, as soon as). In the WAT:HADHAE resource (Wörterbuch zum Alten Testament), the lemma is spelled with a kaph finale (ךְּ). When doing a morphological search in the BHS (Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensa) with this spelling ("lemma:ךְּ"; which is suggested automatically), I get no results. I also tried "lemma: כְּ" and "lemma: כ". However, none of this turned out any result, although there should be hundreds or thousands of hits. To me, this seems to hinge on the wrong spelling with the kaph finale.

Anyway, for those, who have the same trouble: There is a workaround: search for "כְּ" only! This works only in the 2006 version of the BHS (LLS:BHSSESB2), not in the 2016 version (LLS:1.0.204).

Customer support tells me they are going to forward my request. Hopefully, this bug will be fixed soon.

Hello JEck, welcome to the Logos user forum!

I must admit, I don't read Hebrew at all (hopefully some who do come accross this thread - why did you open it in the Logos 5 subforum- do you still use Logos 5? This version is unsupported - you can probably run Logos 7 for free on the same hardware and OS).

However, I tried to familiarize myself with the issue, since using the "2006 version of BHS" (which is a far older SESB BHS version that was last updated by Logos in 2006, and officially has been declared deprecated) is greatly discouraged. I'm not sure what exactly you searched for, however, afaik the syntax of lemma: does not allow a space behind it. That said, I used the current BHS SESB edition and get 2,900 results for a bible search with <Lemma = sesb/he/כְּ> - simply pasting the Hebrew character into the inline search line give various suggestions, including the lemma you are looking for.

Choosing the first suggestion has Logos fill in the correct search syntax and yield the results:

In the latest edition of SESB2 (LLS:1.0.204), I get 2,900 results for lemma:כְּ, but none for lemma:ךְּ. As alabama suggests, perhaps the issue is the space you've added.

The free update to Logos 7 is available here: https://www.logos.com/product/136022/basic — you'll keep everything you have in Logos 5, but be up-to-date with all the software improvements since then.
