L4 not downloading updates

L4 is not downloading my updates. When I started up L4 after dinner tonight I got the message that logos was downloading 38.6 megs of resources. It has been at 0% of 38.6MB for 2 hours. I just received a notice that my pre-pub is ready for downloading. L4 now tells me that it is downloading updates (0% of 42.5MB). It has been at 0% for nearly 30 minutes now. Automatically download updates and Use Internet are both set to yes.

Any suggestions?

Do you have a firewall installed? Is this the first time you are experiencing this? It may be the case that the BITS (service used by windows and Logos to download updates) is stuck with a bad download job in which case we'd have to clear the list of jobs - follow this thread and see if the solution works for you: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/8136/66083.aspx#66083

Well you may not need to restart the download jobs - Close L4 and Logos4Indexer if they are still running (ctrl+alt+delete and in task manager end Logos4Indexer.exe process) then go to your firewall settings and add the Logos4.exe Logos4Indexer.exe and UpdateManager.exe files to the exception list, the (default) directory where these files are is :

Win XP - C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\AppData\Logos4\System\

Vista/Win7 - C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Logos4\System\

Then try running L4

George I tried this, but it is still not downloading my new resources. . . still 0% of 42.5MB. I have not worked through the suggestions in the link you sent earlier. I will try again tomorrow night and send my log files then as well.

Hi Daniel,

Sorry I can't help but I too have the same problem. It started over the last weekend - and I still (3 days later) can't download - sometimes it doesn't start at all, other times it gets part way through and then gives up.

Can anyone help us?

So you used the /reset switch and launched L4 and it repeated the 0% download issue? Did the list repopulate with transient errors again?

Can you repeat reseting the download jobs with Logos4 and the Logos4Indexer process closed, but this time before launching L4 try navigating to your Logos4\Data\4mj41uvk.doj\UpdateManager\ folder and erase the whole folder and then launch L4 and let me know.

Could it be the same probelm as the guys who are having trouble with the Berkhoff download? - see other post.

There is mention of 18.3 MB download failing - and that was the size of mine, although it then grew to 56.9 MB, and is now 18.3 MB.

Thanks for your answer George. I will try your suggestion again later today Lord willing. I'm having a character building week. My part time job is entering its busy time of the year and last night both our washer and dryer broke so I was busy fixing them. I also had a funeral visitation; the funeral is this morning. I do appreciate your help and will let you know how things turned out when I can.

By the way, when I started L4 this morning the download was up to 296MB. The download actually completed but when L4 restarted the indexer crashed. The program did open but I noticed that I do not have my new resources (pre-pubs that are now live--my card has been charged). I ran Update Now and Update Resources. Both times L4 reported that there are no updates available.

I gotta run hope to spend time checking things out later today before prayer meeting tonight. There's always tomorrow.[:)]

I'm sorry to hear about the funeral [:(] - as for downloading the update it seems you may be running into a known issue with the indexer or you may be finding a new bug - whenever you have time it would be nice to see the logs from the crash so we can figure out what is going on.
