Display Monitors

Please recommend a large horizontal & a large vertical display monitor compatible with my MacBookPro for being able to display multiple Logos panels on multiple monitors. Please estimate cost, recommend where to buy them, and what to avoid. Thank you.

What sizes are you considering.Most people look for 24 inch or 27 inch. There are a number of excellent monitors. FWIW, all things considered, you might want to check out monitor recommendations on Wirecutter. They gave a 24 inch Dell Ultra-Sharp model a very high recommendation recently.

No, sadly, it's an early 2015 model with two USB 3 ports (up to 5 Gbps). What do you advise?

I will be in the market myself in the next few months (I hope), so I've been doing some hunting and plan on buying one of these myself. All my hardware is 5-7 years old, so I'm looking forward to upgrading to higher resolution screens/higher DPI screens, which make reading easier on the eyes, especially with Greek/Hebrew fonts. (Have to play with the scaling a bit, I understand.)

This Dell is highly rated by everyone, 27", 4k. It's not new, so the price fluctuates, and has been as low as $440 on Amazon. If you want larger and have the money, this BenQ is similarly a 4k 32" model that's been out for some time, and often sells significantly below its retail. (4k at 32" means lower DPI, but you also don't have to do any scaling, I hear.)

Going the other direction, this is a Dell 24" 4k for $350.

And if I had the money and the computing power to drive it, Dell just released a 32" 8k monitor for only 5 grand. Yeah, I'll take 2.

For information, I've been reading TheWirecutter (like ConsumerReports a bit), and various tech sites- AnandTech, 4k.com, digitaltrends, Gizmodo.

I have a 32" monitor, I bought it for technical drawings and it is already technically old. Generally I am happy with it and my friends like it. But the number of windows can be high on the screen and may become confusing.

Also pictures scale in a funny way in some Logos resources. In some resources they go with the font size, thus the pictures can be very small on a high-resolution screen.

Some resources have the opposite: the pictures use the whole screen or the window width and then it shows only part of the picture and no text at all, needs scrolling and then you see even less of the picture.

The good news is that the maps in "Atlas of Christian History" show properly on the big screen.

Monitors keep getting better and your dollar buys more than just a couple years ago. Unless you need something for graphics, video or gaming, you won't have any problem getting something suitable without emptying your wallet.

I don't have a monitor suggeston to make, but just wanted you chime in and say there is definitely value in having both a horizontal and vertical monitor as you proposed. I bought a monitor stand last year that supports two monitors up to 27 inches each. I wound up rotating one monitor vertically for reading and left my primary display horizontal. Could not be happier. If you wind up using a monitor stand, you will want to make sure any monitors you get have VESA mounts.

The 2015 MB Pro will drive at least one external 4k monitor.
