Question About Crash on Verbum

I don't see a separate forum for this question although I may have overlooked it.

For several days I have been running Verbum 7on my Desktop with no problem. Yesterday, I attempted to run it and it failed while signing in. It also fails at the start of any attempt to run offline.

I have totally uninstalled it and reinstalled it but get the same results. Any ideas?

Good Day Rev. Michael,

Sorry to hear about Verbum not responding. Do you get a message when trying to o open Verbum? such as "Unable to connect to Logos.com" or "Verbum/Logos has quit unexpectedly"? If you do, try those links to help you trouble shoot the problem.

I get no error message. Just says that an error caused the program to stop working., regardless if on or off line. Trying to run as Administrator does the same. Uninstalled again and rebooted the reinstalled the latest version directly from Logs/Faithlife/ Same results. at a lose.

I have restarted the pc several times. Still same problem. I have Windows 10 with all the latest updates. Everything else running fine.

Verbum 7 can be discussed with Logos 7 in forum => Logos 7 as the applications share a substantial code base. Logos 7 has a command to enable Verbum mode, which affects Home Page content, Canonical books (for Bible searches), and three built-in collections.

Note: Faithlife may move this thread for General to Logos 7 for future discussion.

Without seeing diagnostic log files, humanly have no idea about crash cause. Windows support => https://www.logos.com/support/windows includes => What to do if Logos Crashes and => Report a Problem

I have totally uninstalled it and reinstalled it but get the same results.

Uninstall should delete user database files, downloaded resources, and indexes. Reinstall and application launch should download resources followed by indexing.

Trying to run as Administrator does the same.

Logos 7 and Verbum 7 were designed to run as user with %APPDATA% environment variable. Running as administrator can change user's folder/file permissions => Error Writing to File

I have Windows 10 with all the latest updates.

What version of Windows 10 ? Has Windows 10 Creator's Update been installed ?

FYI: have needed to restart Windows 10 at times, especially when Windows updates needed installation.

Puzzling error for a database file to exist while not having schema information.

Since using Verbum 7.5 SR-1 (current stable release) on Windows 10 (Creator Update, version 10.0.15063.0), recommend contacting Faithlife's technical support => https://www.logos.com/contact

Personal note: could rename folder "C:\Users\RevMichael\AppData\Local\Verbum\Documents\lhukgpzv.5kq\LayoutManager" (to LayoutManager.Old)) followed by launching Verbum again. Renaming folder would cause folder and associated database file to be recreated, which would include schema information plus should download your saved layouts from Faithlife servers.

Problem Solved!!!!

Found layouts.db Corrupted at C:\Users\RevMichael\AppData\Local\Verbum\Documents\lhukgpzv.5kq\LayoutManager.

Replaced it with the one from my Surface Pro. Working fine now.
