Visual Filter Help Request

I have tried looking/searching in the LOGOS help system as well as searching with Google to no avail.

What I would like to do is create a visual filter that will highlight (change the text color) of all text surrounded by either parenthesis ( text here ) or square brackets [ text here ]. The ( ) and [ ] do not have to have their color attributes changed but they can if that simplifies things.

Can this be done using the visual filter system? I am trying to colorize the Amplified Bible I just purchased.

Example:
8 And the Lord God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden [delight]; and there He put the man whom He had formed (framed, constituted).

Sorry but this can't be done.

Visual Filters use the underlying Logos Search capability which can't currently search on punctuation marks.

Amplified Bible has search fields of Additional Meaning for parenthesis ( text here ) and Clarifying Words for square brackets [ text here ]

Example Bible Search of Amplified Bible using OR shows Additional Meaning (addmean) and Clarifying Words (clrfywrds) with different colors:

([field addmean] spoke,good,of,fog,vapor,framed,constituted,suitable,pleasant,pearl,sufficient,satisfactory,adapted,complementary) OR ([field clrfywrds] delight,the,difference,between,river,Tigris,wild)

Visual Filter could be created with Additional Meaning word list having one highlighting style while Clarifying Word list having a different style.

Wildcard search finds 78,885 additional meaning and clarifying words, but does not highlight them in Amplified Bible (using Logos 7.6 Beta 3):

([field addmean] a*,b*,c*,d*,e*,f*,g*,h*,i*,j*,k*,l*,m*,n*,o*,p*,q*,r*,s*,t*,u*,v*,w*,x*,y*,z*) OR ([field clrfywrds] a*,b*,c*,d*,e*,f*,g*,h*,i*,j*,k*,l*,m*,n*,o*,p*,q*,r*,s*,t*,u*,v*,w*,x*,y*,z*)

Wildcard search results can be helpful for creating word lists. Noticed a number of words appear more than once for additional meaning and clarification.

This gets me a lot further. I had seen the "Search Fields" when I was playing around but I think I was in Basic Mode and did not see any choices that looked helpful.

I was able to use your search string and "sort-a" make this work.
I am using LOGOS 7.5 for what it's worth (just for the record). The Filter DOES apply and the text DOES get its attributes changed. It simply takes a year and a day (25-30 minutes) for the filter to fully apply and the changes appear. This is way too long to be useful, so that leads to my next question.

Is there a way to make (convert) the text highlighted by the search/visual filter permanent? that is change/convert them (in mass) to highlight markups?

It takes a long time to do it, but the the results are highlighted in the AMP (Logos v7.5 & v7.6)

It sounds like it has to find every word in the entire bible within those fields, then apply the style based on the list of results. Very time-consuming and intensive, especially if it constantly has to repeat that process every time you open the AMP.

It would be nice if the program could just dynamically apply a visual filter to visible words that match that field, without having to use wildcards or scan the whole bible.

Unfortunately, No. A Visual Filter is impractical until the wildcard search of fields has been radically improved, and there is no way to apply search results as a (permanent) highlight.

The alphabet wildcard search a*, b*, c*...z* is the simplest way in a non-morphological bible like AMP to find all words but it is still SLOOW and unsuitable for a Visual Filter.

In a morphological bible like SBLGNT you can find all Variant Readings with a Morph Search using @B*, C*, D*, I*, J*, N*, P*, R*, T*, V*, X* ; which is much faster than the wildcard (Greek) alphabet search. To find the one word in a specific Highlight Style in my ESV the alphabet search took 367s, the morphological search took less than 2s, whilst the {Highlight stylename} search took less than 0.1s!
