CRASH trying to go back to stable version

Bradley Grainger:
To install the latest
stable version
Bradley, have any folks complained this weekend that their stable
versions updated to Beta versions (by themselves-by mistake etc)?
The problem started when the 4.0b sr 2 came out, that after
upgrading to it (My formerlly 4.0b) then further "upgraded' to BETA.
I removed the Beta and am presently trying to re-instal the stable
one again.
This is on a computer than runs Beta on a restricted Administrator
side and "stable" on a open "public" side.
The first indexing is almost done, but I cannot get past the sign in
without a crash.
any hints from these logs?
Regards,
SteveF

Steve, those files didn't get attached properly. Clicking on the links does nothing. Try again: to post each file in turn, click on the paperclip icon, browse to the file, select it, click Open, remove the numbers in the "Max width" and "Max height" fields, and click Insert.

thanks Rosie - I had not noticed those numbers or realized they would mess stuff up.

Did you completely remove the logos4 folder when you uninstalled 4.0c? Because it looks like your Documents folders may have come from 4.0c and cannot be read by 4.0b.

I had thought that I did.
BUT, if that was not the case, do I need to completely uninstall and start over?

Had not had a chance. The thing was downloaded one day showing 4.0b - then the SR-1 version came out and I allowed it to be upgraded.
DURING that upgrade process it also "jumped' to 4.0c (Basically it all happened so quickly, that it was "done' before I even remembered the option to set the default channel.
It was also advertized as an update that had "Auto" turned "off."
Did it instead steal my (administrator-side,) BETA settings in order to be able to upgrade further than I wanted?
After seeing this happen on the laptop, I made sure my "tower" stable version had the "stable" setting turned on.
This whole thing really took me by surprise.

This laptop is running Windows 7 32 bit.
Should it be showing 2 "logos.exe" in the Task Manager process window while it is trying and failing to load?
If I just click on the icon - I only get a fail notice.
If I hold down the Ctrl key i can usually get it to almost wwork: ie. the signin appears and a "librar" notice etc before it crashes - is that related to the "wrong" or "extra" Document drawer?

Yes! Although you might use one of the methods at http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers . Method 1/2 are the quickest if you have a working 4.0b SR-1 installation. I have used Method 2 with 100% success.

Yes, then one exits before the UI loads.

Yes. It occurs within a few seconds of startup and appears to be Visual Markups.

Thank you for all of this DAvid.
I have some other locations to be at this day plus an Evening Bible study to prepare for, so I will not be able to attack this job immediately.
but thank you for laying out the options! "Onward and Upward" etc.

I want to write more but these days I am doing preparation of different online certifications and I found cwna certification is the best helping source which is providing 100% authentic material. I also spend my extra time in surfing internet, listening music and playing games. After my exams I would like to join your group.
