Question: to users of the "Sermon" document type

I had L6 Platinum, have just taken the free engine for 7 this time around for now

The only reason I may upgrade would be for the sermon tool, however, I have watched the video which looks great, except, I have no intention to use proclaim or make my sermons public

Give those two facts, are there any other significant benefits over using Word and making a PB as I currently do..

I am leaning on side of NO, but have I missed something obvious, you couldn't live without????

There are serious issues with sermons being automatically published to the site. The default is for a new sermon to auto publish. This <can> be turned off, but at this point continues to be rechecked with each new sermon. For those who don't want their sermons to be published, I don't recommend using the feature.

I agree there are issues but I haven't seen them to this extent.

Most of the time my sermon documents aren't marked to be published - on occasions they are and its not clear why!

I write my sermon notes in the Sermon Editor each week and find it very useful for a number of reasons:

It is very easy to insert scripture passages and change between translations as required
Copy / paste reference information works well and results in clickable links to the reference material
I like having the various styles available - particularly prompts and illustrations. It helps me write notes to myself for reference when preaching
I like having them integrated in the Logos environment - appears in Guides and I have a "Sermons" section in Favorites with links to sermon documents
Having the documents automatically sync to the mobile apps is really helpful (essential for me) as I preach from my iPad
In general I don't use slides when preaching but having the ability to auto-generate them and publish to PowerPoint is useful

It's my understanding the publish option shouldn't be automatically be re-setting itself with new sermons after it has been deselcted. Does (or did) this happen every time to you?

I've just started creating Sermon Documents and only had to uncheck it once. I have not had this problem.

After the recent updates to the Sermon Builder, I've found it MUCH more useful and would completely echo Graham's sentiments. I used to create my sermons via Word or Pages, place them in a dropbox file to access them on my iPad, then annotate them on my iPad. Now, as I create the document through Logos, it appears and has removed several steps from my creation process.

I have yet to have a challenge (like lost connectivity, the app shutting down mid-sermon, etc.) I do have to be aware of my battery charge before service starts though!

I will say that I am not satisfied yet with how the Document exports to word for printing - that is clunky and if i preferred preaching from a paper, as opposed to digital, that would probably be a defer me greatly from using it.

Has anybody had any trouble with the "Key Topics" and "Key Passages" sections in the "Sermon Info?" On rare occasions it will populate with a preset scripture or topic, but that is the exception. Generally I type into this block, wait for something to happen, nothing does, and I end up not being able to save this info. Is there something I am not doing correctly?

I have seen similar reports - see https://community.logos.com/forums/p/140265/896701.aspx for an example - but the problem doesn't seem to be repeatable (as you note)

What version of Logos 7 are you running? There was a problem with this that was fixed in 7.4.

If you are running at least 7.4 I would add your experiences to the thread I referenced above
