Invite Friends function

I use Gmail and have added many of our church members to a church Gmail group. I was expecting to be able to Invite them all to join out group by clicking the Gmail button on the invite form and providing  that group email name, but it didn't seem to work; I had to search for each email address separately. Am I doing something wrong, or are email groups not supported?

    Hi Michael, it doesn't look like importing a group created in a third-party email platform is currently supported at this time. I'm not sure it is technically possible with regards to the information Google makes available there. I've checked with the Faithlife team about this and someone will get back to you.
