Identifying works used by datasets and passage guide features

I love how Grammar, Systematic Theology, and Biblical Theology have their own resource types, however, I notice that the resources used by the Ancient Literature (al), Confessional Documents (cdcr), and Lexham Cultural Ontology (lco) datasets tends to just get lumped into "Monograph". It would be quite useful for me if these were separated out.

I have started tagging such documents (as identified in the dataset documention) with the above tags, but I only have platinum so I can't tag them all. If anyone else is interesting in contributing to the community tags, I would be grateful, and would also love if they got separated into their own Types like Grammar and Systematic Theology and Biblical Theology already do. Currently I use the tags to filter these out of my monograph section for purposes of the "Collections" guide section, so I don't duplicate their searches and the Collections guide section becomes more useful as pertaining to resources that the other guide sections didn't already identify.

Anyways, if anyone else has come up with better solutions, I would be interested in hearing them.

The resources tagged for lco include the Types Bible, Encyclopedia, and Ancient Manuscript as well as Monograph. The same resources would be tagged for other datasets so it would not be convenient, nor meaningful, to have them "separated" into a specific Type as you are suggesting.

You can use tags (mytag) like lco, cdcr, al to identify resources used by the datasets but it would be an ongoing task as further resources are utilised by Faithlife and they won't necessarily be documented. To become "Community" tags a certain percentage of users would have to use the same scheme.

Currently I use the tags to filter these out of my monograph section for purposes of the "Collections" guide section, so I don't duplicate their searches and the Collections guide section becomes more useful as pertaining to resources that the other guide sections didn't already identify.

For Passage Guide, then, you are not interested in Bible references in Monograph resources tagged for lco, cdcr, al etc? e.g. the Cultural Concepts section will list lco's drawn from the biblical passage Gen 6:1-8 but you don't want the lco tagged Amarna Letters to be included in your Collections section should it contain a reference to Gen 6:1-8 (it doesn't!), irrespective of whether it is tagged for an lco in the Cultural Concepts section?

Good point, thank you! The way the 'lco' resources are used in the Cultural Concepts section is totally different from how they would be used in the Collections section. So I do want those in both. I'll stop using that tag.

However, I do think the Ancient Literature and Confessional Documents referenced are duplicated between the two sections and take up a HUGE part of my library (at platinum). So if I don't filter them out, the Collections section is too cluttered to be much use. So I will keep working on them.

You raised a couple points that were new to me. I am tagging them and using 'mytag:' as my filters. Is this totally different from community tags? Maybe I misunderstand. I thought my tags would automatically be available to other people, but I guess not?

Also, I am saddened to hear that when new resources are added the Documentation is not updated. Is that true? That's terrible? How do we know which resources are used by Ancient Literature or Confessional Documents etc then? I was relying on the documentation as I assumed they would just update it whenever they tied a new resource to one of those datasets.

The problem is that you will omit resources that contain relevant bible references not covered by these sections e.g. your al Ancient Literature resources may contain many bible references not covered by these sections. The impact may be less for cdcr resources, but what if you tag a resource for both al and cdcr?

I am saddened to hear that when new resources are added the Documentation is not updated. Is that true?

Some 8 Monograph resources that came up in an Culture search {Section <Culture = Flood epic>} are not mentioned in the Documentation.

Overall, I think you need to be very selective in tagging resources that are targeted by the datasets.
