Crash of A16

1.Opened app

2. dialog box opened saying signing in

3. then dialog box opened saying preparing the library. I am not sure why no new content downloads since it worked fine last night with a15. I assumed the a16 needed to rebuild the indexes. I don't have that much content yet so indexing should not take long ( 30 min with initial install). It has now been 11 hours and it still say's it is preparing library

4. i can not get to any of my content. Which is a pain preparing for midterms in Seminary

5. I just tried to make it quit since other had reported unresponsiveness. It quit just fine.

6 I just tried to restart. It showed a library list for about 15 sec then the Preparing your library box is back.

7. I noticed that the logos4.log showed downloading files all afternoon . I am not sure what that is about.

Hope a fix is close at hand. Would like to use the product to study. + Easter Sermon.

70624.Archive.zipI realize that this problem has been cleared up with Alpha 16a, but I am still having 16a crash and the icon in the menu bar says I need to down and index things, but it crashes as well. Is this still happening to anyone else?

Observation every launch of Logos overwrites Logos4.log and Indexer.log files.

Indexer.log file includes "LogosIndexerWorker | Already running, so we'll exit now." - wonder if Logos 4 relaunched while Indexer already running ?

Did notice Console Message crash - not know if related to Logos 4 relaunch.

Many users with similar issues have reported that manually downloading Alpha 16a and installing it. If you do this and you still have trouble, please post some new logs, and we'll look at them right away.

Thanks David. I uninstalled A16a and then downloaded and reinstalled it. It crashed its first time running, but has not crashed again. However, the Logos icon in the menu bar shows up just for a second. I know that there is still indexing to do and that there are downloads to do as well. I have attached my log reports again. I am living in Papua, Indonesia with extremely slow DSL service that cuts out regularly. I don't know if that may have had an effect on the downloads or not.

I am having the same problem but unfortunately my degree is in Theology and not software. I have no idea what all this means about uninstalling this and manually reinstalling that and deleting the this line from that line. all I know is i have this software and cannot use it.

Logos developer assistance needed - user observation of indexer exit (crash) in console logs posted by Justin Burt:

Near end of Indexer.log file noticed SQLite error - not certain which DB file malformed - filename not in error stack:

Unhandled Exception: System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteException: The database disk image is malformed

I am having the same problem but unfortunately my degree is in Theology and not software. I have no idea what all this means about uninstalling this and manually reinstalling that and deleting the this line from that line. all I know is i have this software and cannot use it.

If willing to learn about software, many forum users glad to share information. For example, to uninstall Mac application, throw it away: right click application => "Move to Trash" OR drag application to trash. Like a real trash can, stuff stays in trash can until emptied.

Also cognizant using Alpha software not for everyone - can be very frustrating, yet insightful while learning features, providing feedback, and appreciating positive progress with each Alpha release. An old observation still true today: computers are incredibly stupid, can only do what they been told.

Your DownloadManager.db has somehow become corrupted. If you delete it, it should recreate itself (correctly, this time), which should allow you to get back to normal operation.

Hey David,

It seems as we have gone a step back now. I deleted the file as instructed above, the icon in the menu bar was able to connect and start to download, then crashed followed by L4 Mac A16a crashing. I am going to reinstall L4 Mac A16a and will post if that fixes the L4 crash problem. In the mean time, here are some more logs for you:

I am headed back into the tribe in 4 or 5 days until October, so I tried some other things things to get it to work since the clean install did not help. I deleted the following files:

UserFolder/library/Application Support/Data/uniquefolder.xxx/DownloadManager/DownloadManager.db file.
UserFolder/library/Application Support/Data/uniquefolder.xxx/UpdateManager/ and delete Updates.db file.

Now, L4 will run, but the indexer/updater in the menu bar keeps crashing. I have posted new logs so that you might be able to see what is going on.

At this point, the safest thing is probably to delete everything (both the application bundle and the contents of ~/Library/Application Support/Logos4) and start over (you may wish to wait until Monday, as we should be releasing Alpha 17).

That said, if you're going to be away from Internet access for that long, I would strongly recommend using a copy of Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion to install Windows and the Windows product. The Alpha is meant to be used by people who can tolerate missing functionality and occasional (sometimes frequent) instability, and that doesn't sound like it describes your situation.

Thanks for your help. I wish I was able to stay around longer, but I am unable to. I do have a PC that I can throw Logos on so I am not completely at a loss, plus I do have Accordance, so I am not hurting. I will try to get L4 A17 and see what happens. Thanks again for your help.
