stuck in alpha 16 can't open to update to 16a

My program remains in "Preparing your library..." indefinitely and I can't open it.  How do I get updated to 16a to fix this problem?

Try:

1. Force Quit

2. Goto the 16a release notes and complete the manual download

3. Restart Logos, it may autodownload and index a few times before stabilizing

This worked for me, your milage may vary.
