Hi,
I have several collections of journals in my Logos library. I was wondering: is there a way to create a link that would take me to a particular article within the journal?
Thanks
Open the journal to the article, then on the PC use CTRL-ALT-C to create a Logos-recognizable link. You can then paste the link into a Logos document, or any other external-to-Logos program that supports hyperlinking, such as Microsoft Word.
Thanks Mark,
What kind of Logos document? I tried pasting it into a Bibliography document and nothing happened.
If you want to send it to a Bibliography document, then you can just drag the resource panel onto the open document.
In a Bibliography Document you can add a link to a bibliographic entry. Click on the entry to open the notes box and paste the link there.
You can add a link to a note in a Notes document or a clipping in a clippings document. They don't seem to work in Sermon documents. They can be pasted into Reading Plans (using the RL format).

I have always understood RL format to be used for creating reading lists, not reading plans.
You are correct. My mistake. RL is Reading List.
That is fantastic! Is there a way to get the referenced page numbers in there as well?
Mark,
That does work, but unfortunately it doesn't satisfy my first request that started this discussion, which was to create a link to the resource.

I am not following you. Doing what I mentioned does in fact create a link to the resource. What kind of link are you looking for?
OK, sorry, guess I'm not being very clear. What I would like to do is create a list of resources on a topic that not only give the correct bibliographic information but also provides a link I could use to jump to a particular resource. In the case of a journal article: to the specific article within the journal. So, I want a bibliography with links.
Hope that clears up my muddle.

Not all resources include page number information for various reasons. Bibliography entries to resources that contain page number information will display it if the selected citation format includes page number notation.
So, when I try the copy and paste into a note, this is what I get, and it's not clickable.

Double clicking on a Bibliography entry will open the resource to the place the entry was created from.
Wow! You're right. Didn't know it would do that and had never tried the double-click. Was looking for a single-click I guess. Thanks
First, be sure to space after you paste the link so that it turns blue/purple and is an active link (yours appears to be).
Second, you have to use CTRL-Click to activate the link.
Sorry for not explaining that. Here's an example. I hovered over the link which produced the pop-up you see, and in small print at the bottom (my arrow) it gives the instructions to activate the link.
Ha! ... Right On brother. It worked! Thanks guys.
Linking has special support in Note files. When you highlight text in a note file a link icon appears on the formatting bar. Click on that and you can paste the link you created in the resource into that link dialog box and turn your text into an active link.
Here's an example. I turned the text description of the link into an active link to the text using this method:
This is often what I do. It looks neater and is a built-in description of the link.
Sorry Mark, I don't see what you are talking about. I highlight text in a note file but don't see any such icon. And what do you mean by the "formatting bar" .. the bar at the top of the note file? I am using the MAC version, btw.
Sorry. In my screen shot near the top you'll easily see the word Default. Look well to the right and you'll see an icon that looks like two links in a chain. It is greyed out in my screen shot since I had no text selected. It becomes active when one selects text. When you paste the link you created in your resource into its drop-down box it will apply the link to the highlighted text, and change the text color to indicate it is now a link. So now your text is a hyperlink.

Hmmm, that did not seem to work for me. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

From the couple examples I tried page numbers seem to display for resources of type: Journal but not type: Bible Commentary or Monograph
I tried Matthew (PNTC) for myself, and the pages don't show in Turabian, but do show in some of the other styles such as APA. I don't know any details on why this varies.
It looks like it only shows the starting page though. So for bibliographic purposes, I guess we need to move to the end of the article and do a copy and paste to see the end page number.
Dr Greg to get the page range you need to select the whole article and then drag this over to the bibliography report.
