Inline search not working

I am attempting to use the inline search (as per the 30 Day Challenge lessons), but get zero hits. For example in Jonah 1.1 select 'Jonah' & search for <Person Jonah>, nothing returned.
I have rebuilt the indexes but still get zero hits. This was the only resolution I could find in the Forum. I checked the log for the indexing, but no obvious error.
I have reported the problem to Tech Support, but no response yet (> 1 week ago).
Any suggestions/help?
thanks;
David

Does it work as a Bible Search? What base library do you have? If you only have Logos 7 Basic this search will not work, but has it worked previously?

Hi Dave;
Thanks for responding (I've been out of town and missed your post).
Yes, it does. See screenshot, just make sure we are talking about the same thing. I have Bronze library in Logos 6, recently just did (free) upgrade to Logos 7. I tried the same inline search on my laptop, which has Logos 6 (forgot to upgrade), and I had the same result.
I have never tried doing inline searching before (I'm doing the 30 day challenge - over much more than 30 days - so I can use what I have properly).

The issue isn't to do with inline searching - you would get the same results if you tried a regular Bible search

For this search to work you need something known as the Bible Referents dataset which was available in Logos 6 Silver and above (so not included in Bronze). The free Logos 7 upgrade preserved existing functionality but did not add this particular capability.
This dataset is included in all Logos 7 feature sets - you can see what the different feature sets provide at https://www.logos.com/compare/feature-sets - or included in a Logos Now subscription.

OK Thanks very much for your help.

Hi Graham, I just purchased Logos 7 Bronze package and my inline search is not working either. Did I understand you correctly that it should be included in all Logos 7 packages?
Thanks,
Kimberly

The particular search described above should work with all Logos 7 feature sets.
When you purchased Bronze did you include the feature set in your purchase?
Are you trying the same search?

Hi Graham,
Thanks so much for such a quick reply! I searched for the reference Bible Referents and I do have it in my library. However, the inline search option is not bringing up any results when I search for something.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kimberly

Not quite sure what you mean by this as datasets - such as this one - aren't actually displayed in our libraries. But let's leave that for the moment and see if we can work out what is going on

- What search are you actually trying to do?
- Can you post a screenshot of your search in a reply to this thread (use the paperclip icon to do that)?
- Does the same search work correctly in a Search window (i.e. not as an inline search)?

Hi Graham,
I typed "Bible Referents" in the command box and it showed up as being in my library. But here is a screen shot of my computer... I am following along the "Quickstart for Logos 7" video training and the video on inline search asks us to type in "forgive" first and to search in the New Testament. I got 0 results. The next task was to search for "cast lots" and again, I got 0 results...

Sorry, yes the search function works properly, it's just the inline search that isn't.

Ok, that’s helpful. They use different index files so need to ask you to execute the command “rebuild index” and then try the inline search again. It may take some time to rebuild.
And the particular searches you are doing don’t use the Referents database so that’s not the issue!

Screen shot has Blue Circle with the number 2 ... Is indexing done ? Hovering mouse over blue circle has pop-up messages.

About software has scrolling list of datasets on the left side. If Biblical Referents is licensed, it appears in Factbook section:
If Search has "Match all word forms checked", then inline search should have 6 results in the New Testament.

That worked! Thanks so much Graham!

Thank you for this info.... I believe you are correct. I don't think my library had finished indexing. I guess I was just impatient.

For the record, this is incorrect. There is one index file used for all Bible and Morph searches (inline and Search panel), one index file used for all Basic search (inline and Search panel), and one index used for searching personal books.

Hi Andrew
Sorry I provided incorrect information.
Any idea why the Search panel search was working ehile the Inline one was not?

No problem. You were entirely correct in your suggestion to rebuild the index.
It's not completely clear to me from Kimberly's description. I'm guessing that the statement that the Search panel was working, meant that the search in the Search panel was done on a different book than the one being used for the inline search. The later statement that "I don't think my library had finished indexing. I guess I was just impatient." also lines up with the earlier screenshot showing a "2" for the blue notification icon, perhaps indicating that the indexer was already running. Perhaps the ESV was a new purchase, and was still being indexed. Or perhaps the Bible index was corrupt, but a basic search was being done in the search panel, and so that one was OK.
